Transmission Control Switch Circuit [02/2014 - 11/2016]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SPORTS MODE) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Sports Mode.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Sports Mode
    4. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition
      Sports Mode Sports shift signal ON or OFF Shift lever in S: ON
      Shift lever not in S position: OFF
      Result Proceed to
      The Techstream display changes according to the shift lever operation. A
      The Techstream display does not change according to the shift lever operation. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    Result:

    Result: 

    Go to next step 

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SPORT UP SHIFT SENS STATE, SPORT DWN SHIFT SENS STATE) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Sport Up Shift Sens State, Sport Dwn Shift Sens State.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Sport Up Shift Sens State
      Sport Dwn Shift Sens State
    4. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List

      OFF: Shift lever in S

  3. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 

    Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [02/2014 - ] .

    REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU.  Refer to COMPONENTS [02/2014 - 11/2016] .

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

  4. INSPECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH (TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the F46 transmission control switch (transmission floor shift assembly) connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift lever is moved to each position.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2 (SFTU) - 5 (E) Shift lever held in "+" Below 1 Ω
      1 (SFTD) - 5 (E) Shift lever held in "-" Below 1 Ω
      2 (SFTU) - 5 (E) Shift lever in S 10 kΩ or higher
      1 (SFTD) - 5 (E) Shift lever in S 10 kΩ or higher

      *a Component without harness connected
      (to Transmission Control Switch (Transmission Floor Shift Assembly))
    3. Reconnect the F46 transmission control switch (transmission floor shift assembly) connector.
      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH (TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY).  Refer to COMPONENTS [02/2014 - ] .

    Result: 

    OK 

    Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH (TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY) - POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the F16 power management control ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift lever is moved to each position.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F16-21 (SFTU) - Body ground Shift lever held in "+" Below 1 Ω
      F16-20 (SFTD) - Body ground Shift lever held in "-" Below 1 Ω
      F16-21 (SFTU) - Body ground Shift lever in S 10 kΩ or higher
      F16-20 (SFTD) - Body ground Shift lever in S 10 kΩ or higher

      (to Power Management Control ECU)
    3. Reconnect the F16 power management control ECU connector.
      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU.  Refer to COMPONENTS [02/2014 - 11/2016] .

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the F46 transmission control switch (transmission floor shift assembly) connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F46-3 (IG) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      F46-5 (E) - Body ground Power switch off Below 1 V

    3. Turn the power switch off.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F46-5 (E) - Body ground Power switch off Below 1 Ω
    5. Reconnect the F46 transmission control switch (transmission floor shift assembly) connector.
      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    CHECK POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT 

    Result: 

    OK 

    Go to next step 

  7. INSPECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH (TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the F46 transmission control switch (transmission floor shift assembly) connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift lever is moved to each position.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3 (IG) - 7 (S) Shift lever in S Below 1 Ω
      2 (SFTU) - 5 (E) Shift lever held in "+" Below 1 Ω
      1 (SFTD) - 5 (E) Shift lever held in "-" Below 1 Ω
      3 (IG) - 7 (S) Shift lever in any position except S 10 kΩ or higher
      2 (SFTU) - 5 (E) Shift lever in S 10 kΩ or higher
      1 (SFTD) - 5 (E) Shift lever in S 10 kΩ or higher

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU - TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH (TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Remove the IG2-EFI fuse from the No. 1 engine room relay block and No. 1 junction block assembly.

    2. Remove the PM-IGCT fuse from the No. 3 engine room relay block.

    3. Remove the AM2 fuse and ECU-ACC fuse from the instrument panel junction block assembly.

    4. Disconnect the A60, A61, F15 and F16 power management control ECU connectors.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift lever is moved to each position.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F16-22 (M) - A60-1 (+B2) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      F16-22 (M) - A61-3 (+B1) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      F16-22 (M) - F15-1 (AM22) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      F16-22 (M) - F16-7 (AM21) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      F16-22 (M) - A60-4 (MREL) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      F16-22 (M) - A61-1 (IG2) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      F16-22 (M) - A60-10 (ACCI) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      F16-22 (M) - F16-1 (ACCD) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      F16-22 (M) - F16-2 (IG1D) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      F16-22 (M) - F15-16 (SPDI) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      F16-21 (SFTU) - Body ground Shift lever held in "+" Below 1 Ω

      NOTE:

      If the power switch is turned on (IG) with the power management control ECU connector disconnected, other DTCs will be stored. After performing the inspection, clear the DTCs.

    6. Disconnect the F46 transmission control switch (transmission floor shift assembly) connector.
    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F16-22 (M) - F46-7 (S) Power switch off Below 1 Ω

    8. Reconnect the F46 transmission control switch (transmission floor shift assembly) connector.
    9. Reconnect the A60, A61, F15 and F16 power management control ECU connectors.
    10. Install the AM2 fuse and ECU-ACC fuse.
    11. Install the IG2-EFI fuse.
    12. Install the PM-IGCT fuse.
      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU.  Refer to COMPONENTS [02/2014 - 11/2016] .

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  9. INSPECT FUSE (SHIFT SW) 
    1. Remove the SHIFT SW fuse from the No. 3 engine room relay block.

      *1 No. 3 Engine Room Relay Block
      *2 SHIFT SW Fuse
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      SHIFT SW fuse terminals Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Install the SHIFT SW fuse.
      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE FUSE (SEQUENTIAL) 

    Result: 

    OK 

    Go to next step 

  10. INSPECT HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH (TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY) - POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the F46 transmission control switch (transmission floor shift assembly) connector.
    2. Disconnect the A60 power management control ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      F46-3 (IG) - A60-9 (PSFT) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      F46-3 (IG) or A60-9 (PSFT) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the A60 power management control ECU connector.
    5. Reconnect the F46 transmission control switch (transmission floor shift assembly) connector.
      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT
