Pattern Select Switch ECO Mode Circuit [11/2016 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (CAN BUS CHECK) 

    See step  2

    Result Proceed to
    All of the ECUs and sensors that are currently connected to the CAN communication system are displayed. A
    None of the ECUs and sensors that are currently connected to the CAN communication system are displayed, or some of them are not displayed. B

    Result: 

    GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM.  Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [11/2016 - ] .

    Result: 

    Go to next step 

  2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HEALTH CHECK) 

    See step  3

    Result Proceed to
    No DTCs are output.(for multi-information display (monochrome type)) A
    No DTCs are output.(for multi-information display (color type)) B
    DTCs are output. C

    Result: 

    See step  4

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART 

    Result: 

    Go to next step 

  3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (INDICAT. ECO MODE) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test / Indicat. ECO MODE.

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Active Test 

      Tester Display
      Indicat. ECO MODE
    4. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.
    5. Turn the power switch off.
      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY.  Refer to COMPONENTS [02/2014 - ] .

    Result: 

    OK 

    Go to next step 

  4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (ECO MODE) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / ECO Mode.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List 

      Tester Display
      ECO Mode
    4. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition
      ECO Mode ECO mode transition availability ON or OFF In ECO mode: ON
      Result Proceed to
      The Techstream display changes according to the ECO mode switch (heater switch assembly) operation. A
      The Techstream display does not change according to the ECO mode switch (heater switch assembly) operation. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    Result: 

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS.  Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [02/2014 - ] .

    Result: 

    Go to next step 

  5. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (ECO SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Air Conditioning / Data List / ECO Switch.

      Body Electrical > Air Conditioner > Data List 

      Tester Display
      ECO Switch
    4. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.

      Body Electrical > Air Conditioner > Data List 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition
      ECO Switch ECO mode switch (heater switch assembly) condition ON or OFF ECO mode switch (heater switch assembly) being pushed and held at ECO position: ON
      Mode switch not turned: OFF
      Result Proceed to
      The Techstream display changes according to the ECO mode switch (heater switch assembly) operation. A
      The Techstream display does not change according to the ECO mode switch (heater switch assembly) operation. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    Result: 

    REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY.  Refer to COMPONENTS [02/2014 - ] .

    Result: 

    Go to next step 

  6. INSPECT ECO MODE SWITCH (HEATER SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Remove the ECO mode switch (heater switch assembly).

      Refer to REMOVAL [02/2014 - ] .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (ECO Mode Switch (Heater Switch Assembly))

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      4 (ECU) - 1 (E) ECO mode switch (heater switch assembly) being pushed and held Below 1 Ω
      ECO mode switch (heater switch assembly) not pushed 10 kΩ or higher
    3. Install the ECO mode switch (heater switch assembly).
      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE ECO MODE SWITCH (HEATER SWITCH ASSEMBLY).  Refer to COMPONENTS [02/2014 - ] .

    Result: 

    OK 

    Go to next step 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECO MODE SWITCH (HEATER SWITCH ASSEMBLY) - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the F44 ECO mode switch (heater switch assembly) connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (to ECO Mode Switch (Heater Switch Assembly))

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F44-1 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Reconnect the F44 ECO mode switch (heater switch assembly) connector.
      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK 

    Go to next step 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY - ECO MODE SWITCH (HEATER SWITCH ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Disconnect the F80 air conditioning amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the F44 ECO mode switch (heater switch assembly) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (to Mode Switch (Heater Switch Assembly))

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F80-4 (ECON) - F44-4 (ECU) Always Below 1 Ω
      F80-4 (ECON) or F44-4 (ECU) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the F44 ECO mode switch (heater switch assembly) connector.
    5. Reconnect the F80 air conditioning amplifier assembly connector.
      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY.  Refer to COMPONENTS [02/2014 - ] .

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
