DTC P0A2C-247: Drive Motor "A" Temperature Sensor Circuit Low; DTC P0A2D-249: Drive Motor "A" Temperature Sensor Circuit High [02/2014 - 11/2015]: Procedure

  1. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR) 
    1. Check the connection condition of the power management control ECU connectors and the contact pressure of each terminal. Check the terminals for deformation, and check the connector for water ingress and foreign matter.

      Refer to ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE [02/2014 - ]

      OK

      - The connector is connected securely.

      - The terminals are not deformed and are connected securely.

      - No water or foreign matter in the connector.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      OK A
      NG (The connector is not connected securely.) B
      NG (The terminals are not making secure contact or are deformed, or water or foreign matter exists in the connector.) C

    Result:  2

    CONNECT SECURELY 

    Result:  3

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result:  1

  2. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (MOTOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR CONNECTOR) 
    1. Check the connection condition of the motor temperature sensor connector and the contact pressure of each terminal. Check the terminals for deformation, and check the connector for water ingress and foreign matter.

      Refer to ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE [02/2014 - ]

      OK

      - The connector is connected securely.

      - The terminals are not deformed and are connected securely.

      - No water or foreign matter in the connector.

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (MOTOR TEMP NO1) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Motor Temp No1.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Motor Temp No1
    4. Read the Data List.

      Result

      Proceed to
      -40°C (-40°F)
      215°C (419°F)
      Same as actual temperature
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    Result:  2

    215°C (419°F) 

    See step  6

    Result:  3

    Same as actual temperature 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result:  1

    -40°C (-40°F)

  4. INSPECT HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY (MOTOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR) 
    1. Disconnect the C7 motor temperature sensor connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Motor Temperature Sensor (Hybrid Vehicle Motor Assembly))

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1(MMT) - 3(MMTG) Power switch OFF 0.3436 to 1442 kΩ

      HINT: 

      The motor temperature sensor is not available as a supply part. If it requires replacement, replace the hybrid vehicle motor assembly.

    3. Reconnect the C7 motor temperature sensor connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE MOTOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [02/2014 - 11/2015] 

    Result:  1

    OK

  5. CHECK POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU 
    1. Connect terminals 35 (MMT) and 34 (MMTG) of the A61 power management control ECU connector.
    2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).

      *a Component with harness connected
      (to Power Management Control ECU)
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Motor Temp No1.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Motor Temp No1
    5. Read the Data List.

      OK

      Tester Display Condition Specified Condition
      Motor Temp No1 Terminals MMT and MMTG connected
      Power switch on (IG)
      215°C (419°F)

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG
    6. Turn the power switch off.

    Result:  1

    OK 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU. Refer to  COMPONENTS [02/2014 - 11/2016] 

  6. INSPECT HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY (MOTOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR) 
    1. Disconnect the C7 motor temperature sensor connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Motor Temperature Sensor (Hybrid Vehicle Motor Assembly))

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1(MMT) - 3(MMTG) Power switch OFF 0.3436 to 1442 kΩ

      HINT: 

      The motor temperature sensor is not available as a supply part. If it requires replacement, replace the hybrid vehicle motor assembly.

    3. Reconnect the C7 motor temperature sensor connector.

      Result

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE MOTOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [02/2014 - 11/2015]

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MOTOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR - POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the C7 motor temperature sensor connector.
    2. Disconnect the A61 power management control ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Motor Temperature Sensor)
      *b Rear view of wire harness connector
      (to power management control ECU)

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C7-1 (MMT) - A61-35 (MMT) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      C7-3 (MMTG) - A61-34 (MMTG) Power switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C7-1 (MMT) or A61-35 (MMT) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      C7-3 (MMTG) or A61-34 (MMTG) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the A61 power management control ECU connector.
    5. Reconnect the C7 motor temperature sensor connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  1

    OK 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE MOTOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [02/2014 - 11/2015]
