Heater Water Pump Circuit [02/2014 - 11/2016]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT WATER PUMP RELAY

    *a Component without harness connected
    (Water Pump Relay)
    1. Remove the water pump relay from the No. 3 engine room relay block.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3 - 5 Auxiliary battery voltage is not applied between terminals 1 and 2 10 kΩ or higher
      3 - 5 Auxiliary battery voltage is applied between terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPLACE WATER PUMP RELAY. Refer to  PARTS LOCATION [02/2014 - 11/2016] 

    Result:  1

    OK

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (A/C W/P FUSE - WATER PUMP RELAY) 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Relay terminal 1 - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      Relay terminal 3 - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result:  1

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU - POWER SOURCE) 
    1. Reinstall water pump relay to the No. 3 engine room relay block.
    2. Disconnect the A60 power management control ECU connector.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A60-2 (WP) - Body ground Power switch off Below 1 V
      A60-2 (WP) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result:  1

    OK

  4. INSPECT HEATER WATER PUMP ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the heater water pump assembly.
    2. Connect the positive (+) lead of the auxiliary battery to terminal 2 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 1.

      (Heater Water Pump Assembly)

      OK

      The heater water pump assembly operates smoothly.

      NOTE:

      Complete this inspection within 10 seconds if there is no water in the heater water pump assembly.

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPLACE HEATER WATER PUMP ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [02/2014 - 11/2016] 

    Result:  1

    OK

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEATER WATER PUMP ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A37-1 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result:  1

    OK

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEATER WATER PUMP ASSEMBLY - NO. 3 ENGINE ROOM RELAY BLOCK) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A37-2 - Relay terminal 5 Always Below 1 Ω
      A37-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  1

    OK 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [02/2014 - 11/2016]
