DTC P0851-775: Park / Neutral Switch Input Circuit Low [11/2016 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      P0851-775 only is output. A
      P0705-757 is also output. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    Result:  2

    GO TO DTC CHART (P0705-757). Refer to  DTC P0705-757: Transmission Range Sensor Circuit [11/2016 - ]  

    Result:  1

  2. CHECK SHIFT LEVER POSITION SENSOR 
    1. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A86-16 (N) - Body ground Power switch on (IG)
      Shift lever in N
      11 to 14 V
      Power switch on (IG)
      Shift lever in any position except N
      1.2 to 2.8 V

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU Assembly)
    3. Turn the power switch off.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

  3. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 

    Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [02/2014 - ]

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [11/2016 - ]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT)

  5. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION SENSOR 
    1. Disconnect the C15 shift lever position sensor connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Shift Lever Position Sensor)

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      8 (+B) - 2 (N) Shift lever in N Below 1 Ω
      Shift lever in any position except N 4.2 to 5.2 kΩ
    3. Reconnect the C15 shift lever position sensor connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  1

    OK 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPLACE SHIFT LEVER POSITION SENSOR. Refer to  COMPONENTS [02/2014 - ] 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SHIFT LEVER POSITION SENSOR - HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY)
