DTC P0705-757: Transmission Range Sensor Circuit [11/2016 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SHIFT SENSOR SW) 
    1. Connect the Techstream the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Shift Sensor SW - P, Shift Sensor SW - R, Shift Sensor SW - N, Shift Sensor SW - D, Shift Sensor SW - FD, Shift Sensor SW - RV, Shift Sensor SW - MJ.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Shift Sensor SW - P
      Shift Sensor SW - R
      Shift Sensor SW - N
      Shift Sensor SW - D
      Shift Sensor SW - FD
      Shift Sensor SW - RV
      Shift Sensor SW - MJ
    4. While slowly moving the shift lever from P to D, then back to P, read the Data List (Shift Sensor SW) displayed on the Techstream.

      HINT: 

      Be sure to move the shift lever slowly.

  2. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [11/2016 - ]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

  3. CHECK SHIFT LEVER POSITION SENSOR 
    1. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      A86-21 (P) - Body ground Power switch on (IG)

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [11/2016 - ]

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the C15 shift lever position sensor connector.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      C15-8 (+B) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

      (to Shift Lever Position Sensor)
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the shift lever position sensor connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    4. Turn the power switch off.
    5. Reconnect the C15 shift lever position sensor connector.

      Result

  5. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION SENSOR 
    1. Disconnect the C15 shift lever position sensor connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      *1: The resistance between terminals 8 (+B) and 2 (N) should be between 4.2 and 5.2 kΩ.

    3. Reconnect the C15 shift lever position sensor connector.

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result:  2

    REPLACE SHIFT LEVER POSITION SENSOR. Refer to  COMPONENTS [02/2014 - ] 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SHIFT LEVER POSITION SENSOR - HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the C15 shift lever position sensor connector.
    2. Disconnect the A86 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C15-8 (+B) - A86-1 (PSFT) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      C15-8 (+B) or A86-1 (PSFT) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

    4. Reconnect the A86 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.
    5. Reconnect the C15 shift lever position sensor connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  1

    OK 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [11/2016 - ]
