On-Vehicle Inspection [11/2016 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT MASS AIR FLOW METER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    HINT: 

    Perform "Inspection After Repair" after replacing the mass air flow meter sub-assembly.

    Refer to INITIALIZATION [11/2016 - ]

    1. Read the value of Data List item "Mass Air Flow Sensor" using the Techstream.
      NOTE:
      • Perform the inspection with the vehicle indoors and on a level surface.
      • Perform the inspection of the mass air flow meter sub-assembly while it is installed to the air cleaner assembly (installed to the vehicle).
      1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
      2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
      3. Turn the Techstream on.
      4. Put the engine in inspection mode (maintenance mode).

        Refer to INSPECTION MODE PROCEDURE [11/2016 - ]

      5. Start the engine and warm it up until the engine coolant temperature 75°C (167°F) or higher with all the accessories switched off.
      6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / MAF.

        Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Data List 

        Tester Display
        MAF
      7. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List when the engine is running.

        Standard Condition

        Techstream Display Condition Specified Condition
        MAF Idling with warmed up engine (inspection mode [maintenance mode], not charge control) 3.0 to 5.0 gm/sec
        Warmed up engine, 2500 rpm (inspection mode [maintenance mode]) 8.5 to 12.5 gm/sec

        If the result is not as specified, replace the mass air flow meter sub-assembly.

        If the result is within the specified range, remove and inspect the mass air flow meter sub-assembly.

  2. PERFORM INITIALIZATION 
    1. Perform "Inspection After Repair" after replacing the mass air flow meter sub-assembly.
