On-Vehicle Inspection [11/2016 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL SOLENOID ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Put the engine in inspection mode (maintenance mode).

      Refer to INSPECTION MODE PROCEDURE [11/2016 - ]

    5. Start the engine.
    6. Inspect the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly (for intake side).
      1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the VVT Linear (Bank 1) or Control the VVT Linear (Bank 2) / Data List / VVT Change Angle #1 or VVT Change Angle #2.

        Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Active Test 

        Active Test Display
        Control the VVT Linear (Bank1)
        Data List Display
        VVT Change Angle #1

        Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Active Test 

        Active Test Display
        Control the VVT Linear (Bank2)
        Data List Display
        VVT Change Angle #2
      2. Read the Data List while performing the Active Test with the engine idling.

        OK

        Techstream Operation Data List (VVT Change Angle #1 or VVT Change Angle #2)
        -100% to 100% Varies by 70 DegFR or more

        HINT: 

        • Test not possible with the shift lever in P during charge control. Move the shift lever to N to perform test.
        • If the DTCs are stored after the Active Test, clear the DTCs.

        If the result is not as specified, check the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly, wire harness and ECM.

    7. Inspect the camshaft timing oil control solenoid assembly (for exhaust side).
      1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank 1) or Control the VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank 2) / Data List / VVT Ex Chg Angle #1 or VVT Ex Chg Angle #2.

        Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Active Test

        VVT Ex Chg Angle #1

        Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Active Test 

        Active Test Display
        Control the VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank2)
        Data List Display
        VVT Ex Chg Angle #2
      2. Read the Data List while performing the Active Test with the engine idling.

        OK

        Techstream Operation Data List (VVT Ex Chg Angle #1 or VVT Ex Chg Angle #2)
        -100% to 100% Varies by 70 DegFR or more

        HINT:
