Removal [02/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. DRAIN HYBRID TRANSAXLE FLUID 

    See step  1

  2. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [02/2014 - ]

  3. REMOVE DIFFERENTIAL SIDE GEAR SHAFT SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using SST, remove the differential side gear shaft sub-assembly from the rear traction motor with transaxle assembly.

      *A for LH Side
      *B for RH Side
      • SST: 09520-24010 
        1. 09520-04010
        2. 09520-32040
      NOTE:

      Do not damage the rear transaxle side gear oil seal.

    2. Secure the differential side gear shaft sub-assembly in a vise using aluminum plates.
      NOTE:

      Be careful not to damage the differential side gear shaft sub-assembly in the vise.

    3. Using 2 screwdrivers and a hammer, remove the differential side gear shaft snap ring from the differential side gear shaft sub-assembly.

  4. REMOVE DUST COVER 
    1. Secure the differential side gear shaft sub-assembly in a vise using aluminum plates.
      NOTE:

      Be careful not to damage the differential side gear shaft sub-assembly in the vise.

    2. Using a screwdriver and hammer, remove the dust cover from the differential side gear shaft sub-assembly.
