Immobilizer System does not Operate Properly [11/2016 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Smart Key > Trouble Codes 

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs are not output A
      DTCs are output B

    Result:  2

    GO TO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [11/2016 - ] 

    Result:  1

  2. CHECK WHETHER HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM STARTS 
    1. Check that the hybrid control system starts 5 seconds after the power switch turned on (IG).

      OK

      Hybrid control system starts normally.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  1

    OK 

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [11/2016 - ]

  3. INSPECT HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY (TERMINAL IMI AND IMO) 
    1. Using an oscilloscope, check the waveform.

      *a Component with harness connected
      (hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly)
      *b Approximately 160 ms
      *c Approximately 270 ms *d Approximately 40 ms

      NOTE:

      The waveform shown in the illustration is an example for reference only. Noise, chattering, etc. are not shown.

  4. REGISTER ECU COMMUNICATION ID 
    1. Register the ECU communication ID.

  5. CHECK WHETHER HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM STARTS 
    1. Check that the hybrid control system starts.

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) - HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the F9 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.
    2. Disconnect the F137 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F9-7 (EFII) - F137-23 (IMO) Always Below 1 Ω
      F9-6 (EFIO) - F137-22 (IMI) Always Below 1 Ω
      F9-7 (EFII) or F137-23 (IMO) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F9-6 (EFIO) or F137-22 (IMI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  7. REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Replace the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) with a new one.

      Refer to REMOVAL [11/2016 - ]

  8. REGISTER RECOGNITION CODE 
    1. Register the recognition codes in the ECUs.

      HINT: 

      Refer to Registration.

  9. REGISTER ECU COMMUNICATION ID 
    1. Register the ECU communication ID.

      HINT:
