DTC B279A: Theft Deterrent System Communication Line High Fixation [02/2014 - 11/2016]: Procedure

  1. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Clear DTCs 

    Result: 

    NEXT 

  2. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Turn the power switch on (IG) and wait 10 seconds.
    2. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

      HINT: 

      If DTCs other than DTC B279A are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B279A is output A
      DTC B279A and other DTCs are output B

    Result:  2

    GO TO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [02/2014 - 11/2016] 

    Result:  1

  3. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR 
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the power management control ECU and certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly).

      OK

      Connectors are properly connected.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  2

    NG 

    CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY 

    Result:  1

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) - POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the F11 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.
    2. Disconnect the F16 power management control ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F11-19 (EFIO) - F16-29 (IMI) Always Below 1 Ω
      F11-19 (EFIO) or F16-29 (IMI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F16-29 (IMI) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result:  1

    OK

  5. REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Replace the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) with a new one.

      Refer to REMOVAL [02/2014 - 11/2016]

    Result:

  6. REGISTER RECOGNITION CODE 
    1. Register the recognition codes in the ECUs.

      HINT: 

      Refer to Registration.

      Refer to REGISTRATION [02/2014 - 11/2016]

    Result:

  7. REGISTER ECU COMMUNICATION ID 
    1. Register the ECU communication ID.

      HINT: 

      Refer to Registration.

      Refer to REGISTRATION [02/2014 - 11/2016]

    Result:

  8. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Clear DTCs 

    Result: 

    NEXT 

  9. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Perform "DTC Output Confirmation Operation" procedure.
    2. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      DTC B279A is not output.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  1

    OK 

    END (CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) WAS DEFECTIVE)

    REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [02/2014 - 11/2016]
