Windshield Deicer Does Not Operate [02/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Air Conditioner / Active Test.
    5. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.

      Body Electrical > Air Conditioner > Active Test 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Control Range Diagnostic Note
      Deicer Relay (Front) Windshield glass (windshield deicer wire) OFF or ON -

      Body Electrical > Air Conditioner > Active Test 

      Tester Display
      Deicer Relay (Front)

      OK

      The windshield deicer system operates normally.

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG

    OK 

    Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT OUTER MIRROR HEATER SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the outer mirror heater switch assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [02/2014 - ] .

    2. Inspect the outer mirror heater switch assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [02/2014 - ] .

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE OUTER MIRROR HEATER SWITCH ASSEMBLY: 

    Refer to REMOVAL [02/2014 - ] .

    Result: 

    OK 

    Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (OUTER MIRROR HEATER SWITCH ASSEMBLY - IG POWER SUPPLY) 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F4-1 (IG) - Body ground Power switch off Below 1 V
      F4-1 (IG) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK 

    Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (OUTER MIRROR HEATER SWITCH ASSEMBLY - AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the F80 and F81 air conditioning amplifier assembly connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F4-5 (D) - F80-23 (FDF1) Always Below 1 Ω
      F4-5 (D) or F80-23 (FDF1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F4-4 (E) - F81-21 (SW1) Always Below 1 Ω
      F4-4 (E) or F81-21 (SW1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY: 

    Refer to REMOVAL [02/2014 - ] .

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  5. CHECK SEMICONDUCTOR PWR INTEGRATION ECU 
    1. Using a voltmeter, check the signal reading of the semiconductor pwr integration ECU.

      Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [02/2014 - ] .

      OK

      Output signal reading is normal.

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    INSPECT SEMICONDUCTOR PWR INTEGRATION ECU (RESULTS OF SIGNAL READING CHECK): 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2 .

    Result: 

    OK 

    Go to next step 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SEMICONDUCTOR PWR INTEGRATION ECU POWER SOURCE AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Remove the semiconductor pwr integration ECU from the No. 1 engine room relay block and No. 1 junction block assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [02/2014 - ] .

      (No. 1 Engine Room Relay Block and No. 1 Junction Block Assembly)

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1B-1 (BAT) - Body ground Power switch off 11 to 14 V
      1A-1 (ALT) - Body ground Power switch off 11 to 14 V
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1D-14 (GND1) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      1G-5 (GND2) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK 

    Go to next step 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY - SEMICONDUCTOR PWR INTEGRATION ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the F80 air conditioning amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F80-39 (FDEF) - 1D-6 (DICS) Always Below 1 Ω
      F80-39 (FDEF) or 1D-6 (DICS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK 

    Go to next step 

  8. CHECK SEMICONDUCTOR PWR INTEGRATION ECU 
    1. Install the semiconductor pwr integration ECU.

      Refer to INSTALLATION [02/2014 - ] .

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F80-39 (FDEF) - Body ground Power switch on (IG), outer mirror heater switch assembly off 11 to 14 V

  9. CHECK AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Reconnect the F80 air conditioning amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (Air Conditioning Amplifier Assembly)

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F80-39 (FDEF) - F80-14 (GND) Power switch on (IG), outer mirror heater switch assembly on Below 2.2 V
      F80-39 (FDEF) - F80-14 (GND) Power switch on (IG), outer mirror heater switch assembly off 11 to 14 V

    Result:

    REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY: 

    Refer to REMOVAL [02/2014 - ] .

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SEMICONDUCTOR PWR INTEGRATION ECU - WINDSHIELD GLASS (WINDSHIELD DEICER WIRE)) 
    1. Disconnect the 1E semiconductor pwr integration ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the A33 windshield glass (windshield deicer wire) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1E-8 (DICR) - A33-2 (B2) Always Below 1 Ω
      1E-8 (DICR) - A33-1 (B) Always Below 1 Ω
      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK 

    Go to next step 

  11. CHECK SEMICONDUCTOR PWR INTEGRATION ECU 
    1. Reconnect the 1E semiconductor pwr integration ECU connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A33-2 (B2) - Body ground Power switch on (IG), outer mirror heater switch assembly off Below 1 V
      A33-2 (B2) - Body ground Power switch on (IG), outer mirror heater switch assembly on 11 to 14 V
      A33-1 (B) - Body ground Power switch on (IG), outer mirror heater switch assembly off Below 1 V
      A33-1 (B) - Body ground Power switch on (IG), outer mirror heater switch assembly on 11 to 14 V

  12. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WINDSHIELD GLASS (WINDSHIELD DEICER WIRE) - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A33-3 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE WINDSHIELD GLASS (WINDSHIELD DEICER WIRE): 

    Refer to REMOVAL [02/2014 - 11/2015] .

    Refer to REMOVAL [11/2015 - 11/2016] .

    Refer to REMOVAL [11/2016 - ] .

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
