Back Door Courtesy Switch Circuit [11/2016 - ]: Procedure

  1. CONFIRM MODEL 
    1. Choose the model to be inspected.

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

      Body Electrical > Main Body > Data List

  3. INSPECT BACK DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the back door lock assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [11/2016 - ]

    2. Inspect the back door courtesy light switch built into the back door lock assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [11/2016 - ]

      Result

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPLACE BACK DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2016 - ]

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the 4H instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      X19-3 (CTY) - 4H-33 Always Below 1 Ω
      X19-3 (CTY) or 4H-33 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      X19-4 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  5. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY

    *a Component without harness connected
    (Instrument Panel Junction Block Assembly)
    - -
    1. Remove the instrument panel junction block assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [11/2016 - ]

    2. Remove the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) from the instrument panel junction block assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [11/2016 - ]

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      4H-33 - MB-4 (BCTY) Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      NG

    Result:  1

    OK 

    REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU). Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2016 - ]

    REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2016 - ] 

  6. INSPECT BACK WINDOW LOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the back window lock assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [02/2014 - ]

    2. Inspect the back door glass courtesy light switch built into the back window lock assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [02/2014 - ]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPLACE BACK WINDOW LOCK ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [02/2014 - ] 

    Result:  1

    OK

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK WINDOW LOCK ASSEMBLY - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the F18 main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      X11-1 (+) - F18-27 (GCTY) Always Below 1 Ω
      X11-1 (+) or F18-27 (GCTY) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      X11-2 (-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  1

    OK 

    REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU). Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2016 - ]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  8. INSPECT BACK DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the back door lock assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [11/2016 - ]

    2. Inspect the back door courtesy light switch built into the back door lock assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [02/2014 - ]

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPLACE BACK DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2016 - ]

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the X6 multiplex network door ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      X19-3 (CTY) - X6-19 (FUL) Always Below 1 Ω
      X19-3 (CTY) or X6-19 (FUL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      X19-4 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  1

    OK 

    REPLACE MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2016 - ]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  10. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

      Body Electrical > Main Body > Data List

    1. Remove the back door lock assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [11/2016 - ]

    2. Inspect the back door courtesy light switch built into the back door lock assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [02/2014 - ]

    REPLACE BACK DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2016 - ]

  12. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the 4H instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the M23 No. 1 room light assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      X32-3 (D+) - 4H-33 Always Below 1 Ω
      X32-3 (D+) or 4H-33 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      X32-1 (ACT-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to

  13. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the instrument panel junction block assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [11/2016 - ]

    2. Remove the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) from the instrument panel junction block assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [11/2016 - ]

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      4H-33 - MB-4 (BCTY) Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      NG

    Result:  1

    OK 

    REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU). Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2016 - ]
