There is No Sound Made [02/2014 - 11/2016]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Vehicle Proximity Notification System / Trouble Codes.

      Body Electrical > Vehicle Proximity Notification System > Trouble Codes 

    5. Check for DTCs.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1350 is not output A
      DTC B1350 is output B
      Communication with the Techstream is not possible C

    Result:  2

    GO TO DTC CHART B1350. Refer to  DTC B1350: Speaker Circuit [02/2014 - ]  

    Result:  3

    GO TO OTHER DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE (Communication between Vehicle Proximity Notification System and Diagnostic Tool is not Possible). Refer to  Communication between Vehicle Proximity Notification System and Diagnostic Tool is not Possible [02/2014 - ]

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (Proximity Sound (Vehicle Stationary)) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Vehicle Proximity Notification System / Active Test.
    5. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.

      Body Electrical > Vehicle Proximity Notification System > Active Test

    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VEHICLE APPROACHING SPEAKER CONTROLLER - POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the F17 vehicle approaching speaker controller connector.
    2. Disconnect the F15 power management control ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F17-11 (KOK) - F15-21 (KOK) Always Below 1 Ω
      F17-11 (KOK) or F15-21 (KOK) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  8. REPLACE VEHICLE APPROACHING SPEAKER CONTROLLER 
    1. Replace the vehicle approaching speaker controller with a new or known good one.

      Refer to REMOVAL [02/2014 - ]

      The operation of the vehicle proximity notification system returns to normal.

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VEHICLE APPROACHING SPEAKER CONTROLLER - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the F17 vehicle approaching speaker controller connector.
    2. Disconnect the F22 combination meter assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F17-6 (SPD) - F22-3 (+S) Always Below 1 Ω
      F17-6 (SPD) or F22-3 (+S) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  10. CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Reconnect the F17 vehicle approaching speaker controller connector.
    2. Reconnect the F22 combination meter assembly connector.
    3. Check the input waveform.

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Combination Meter Assembly)
      1. Remove the combination meter assembly with the connector(s) still connected.
      2. Connect an oscilloscope to terminal F22-3 (+S) and body ground.
      3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
      4. Turn a wheel slowly.
      5. Check the signal waveform according to the condition(s) in the table below.
        Item Condition
        Tool setting 5 V/DIV., 20 ms./DIV.
        Vehicle condition Power switch on (IG), wheel being rotated

        OK

        The waveform is similar to that shown in the illustration.

        HINT: 

        When the system is functioning normally, one wheel revolution generates 4 pulses. As the vehicle speed increases, the width indicated by (A) in the illustration narrows.

  11. CHECK STOP LIGHT OPERATION 
    1. Check that the stop lights come on when the brake pedal is depressed, and go off when the brake pedal is released.

  12. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VEHICLE APPROACHING SPEAKER CONTROLLER - STOP LP RELAY OR STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 
    1. w/ Dynamic radar cruise control system
      1. Disconnect the F17 vehicle approaching speaker controller connector.
      2. Remove the STOP LP relay.
      3. Disconnect the M30 rear combination light assembly LH connector.
      4. Disconnect the M32 rear combination light assembly RH connector.
      5. Disconnect the Y1 center stop light set connector.
      6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        F17-2 (STP) - Relay Terminal 3 Always Below 1 Ω
        F17-2 (STP) or Relay Terminal 3 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    2. w/o Dynamic radar cruise control system
      1. Disconnect the F17 vehicle approaching speaker controller connector.
      2. Disconnect the A54 stop light switch assembly connector.
      3. Disconnect the A65 skid control ECU assembly connector.
      4. Disconnect the M30 rear combination light assembly LH connector.
      5. Disconnect the M32 rear combination light assembly RH connector.
      6. Disconnect the Y1 center stop light set connector.
      7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        F17-2 (STP) - A54-1 Always Below 1 Ω
        F17-2 (STP) or A54-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  13. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VEHICLE APPROACHING SPEAKER CONTROLLER - VEHICLE APPROACHING SPEAKER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the F17 vehicle approaching speaker controller connector.
    2. Disconnect the A11 vehicle approaching speaker assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F17-3 (SP+) - A11-1 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      F17-8 (SP-) - A11-2 (-) Always Below 1 Ω
      F17-3 (SP+) or A11-1 (+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F17-8 (SP-) or A11-2 (-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    5. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Vehicle Proximity Notification System / Active Test.
    6. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.
