Inspection [08/2013 - 08/2016]: Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. INSPECT STATOR SHAFT ASSEMBLY
    1. Using a dial indicator, measure the inside diameter of the stator shaft assembly bushings.

      Standard Inside Diameter

      21.50 to 21.526 mm (0.846 to 0.847 in.)

      Maximum Inside Diameter

      21.526 mm (0.847 in.)

If the inside diameter is greater than the maximum, replace the stator shaft assembly.

    2. Install the input shaft sub-assembly to the stator shaft assembly and check that the input shaft sub-assembly turns smoothly.

      NOTE:

Replace the stator shaft assembly with a new one if it moves roughly or makes unusual noise.

Inspect the input shaft sub-assembly contact surface with the bearing when replacing, and replace the input shaft sub-assembly with a new one if any damage or discoloration is found.

  2. INSPECT OIL PUMP GEAR CLEARANCE
    1. Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance between the tips of the front oil pump driven gear teeth and the front oil pump drive gear teeth.

      Standard Tip Clearance

      0.07 to 0.15 mm (0.00276 to 0.00591 in.)

      Maximum Tip Clearance

      0.15 mm (0.00591 in.)

If the tip clearance is greater than the maximum, replace the front oil pump body sub-assembly.

    2. Push the front oil pump driven gear to one side of the front oil pump body.
    3. Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance.

      Standard Body Clearance

      0.10 to 0.15 mm (0.00394 to 0.00591 in.)

      Maximum Body Clearance

      0.15 mm (0.00591 in.)

If the body clearance is greater than the maximum, replace the front oil pump body sub-assembly.

    4. Using a steel straightedge and feeler gauge, measure the side clearance of both gears.

      Standard Side Clearance

      0.02 to 0.05 mm (0.000787 to 0.00197 in.)

      Maximum Side Clearance

      0.05 mm (0.00197 in.)

If the side clearance is greater than the maximum, replace the front oil pump drive gear, front oil pump driven gear or front oil pump body sub-assembly.

Front Oil Pump Drive Gear Thickness

      Mark Thickness (mm (in.))
      1 9.440 to 9.449 (0.3717 to 0.3720)
      2 9.450 to 9.459 (0.3720 to 0.3724)
      3 9.460 to 9.470 (0.3724 to 0.3728)
      4 9.471 to 9.480 (0.3729 to 0.3732)
      5 9.481 to 9.490 (0.3733 to 0.3736)
