Inspection [08/2013 - 08/2016]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT DIFFERENTIAL SIDE GEAR BACKLASH 
    1. Measure the differential side gear backlash while holding a pinion gear toward the case.

      Standard Backlash

      0.05 to 0.20 mm (0.00197 to 0.00787 in.)

      If the backlash is not within the specified range, install the correct front differential side gear thrust washer to the front differential side gear.

    2. Referring to the table below, select front differential side gear thrust washers which will ensure that the backlash is within the specified range for both sides.

      1.00 (0.0394) 1.15 (0.0453)
      1.05 (0.0413) 1.20 (0.0472)

      If the backlash is not within the specified range, install a front differential side gear thrust washer of a different thickness.
