ABS Warning Light Remains ON [08/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Check if a CAN communication system DTC is output. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [08/2015 - ] .

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output. A
      DTC is output. B

    B → See step   8 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK IF SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR IS SECURELY CONNECTED 
    1. Check if the skid control ECU connector is securely connected.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    NG → CONNECT CONNECTOR TO ECU CORRECTLY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK BATTERY 
    1. Check the battery voltage.

      Standard Voltage

      11 to 14 V

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      OK A
      NG (for 2GR-FE) B
      NG (for 2AR-FE) C

    A: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE TERMINAL) 
    1. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A49-25 (+BS) - Body ground*1
      A94-25 (+BS) - Body ground*2
      Always 11 to 14 V
      A49-25 (+BS) - A49-38 (GND1)*1
      A94-25 (+BS) - A94-38 (GND1)*2
      Always 11 to 14 V
      A49-28 (IG1) - Body ground*1
      A94-28 (IG1) - Body ground*2
      Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      A49-28 (IG1) - A49-38 (GND1)*1
      A94-28 (IG1) - A94-38 (GND1)*2
      Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V

      *1: for 2AR-FE (w/o Dynamic Radar Cruise Control System)

      *2: for 2AR-FE (w/ Dynamic Radar Cruise Control System), 2GR-FE

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (GND1 TERMINAL) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A49-38 (GND1) - Body ground*1
      A94-38 (GND1) - Body ground*2
      Always Below 1 Ω

      *1: for 2AR-FE (w/o Dynamic Radar Cruise Control System)

      *2: for 2AR-FE (w/ Dynamic Radar Cruise Control System), 2GR-FE

      *B for 2AR-FE (w/ Dynamic Radar Cruise Control System), 2GR-FE
      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Skid Control ECU (Brake Actuator Assembly))

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (GND1 CIRCUIT) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Reconnect the skid control ECU connector.
    2. Perform an Active Test of the combination meter assembly (meter CPU) using the Techstream. Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST [08/2015 - ] .
    3. Check the combination meter assembly.

      OK

      The ABS warning light turns on or off in accordance with the Active Test operation.

      HINT: 

      If troubleshooting has been carried out according to Problem Symptoms Table, refer back to the table and proceed to the next step before replacing parts. Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [08/2015 - ] .

    NG → See step   10 

    OK → See step   7 

  7. REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] 
  8. INSPECT CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [08/2015 - ] 
  9. CHECK OR REPLACE CHARGING SYSTEM COMPONENT OR BATTERY. Refer to  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [08/2015 - ] 
  10. REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] 
  11. CHECK OR REPLACE CHARGING SYSTEM COMPONENT OR BATTERY. Refer to  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [08/2015 - ]
