Engine does not Start because No Initial Combustion [08/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2015 - ] .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2015 - ] .

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs are not output A
      DTCs are output B

    B → See step   13 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (IMMOBILIZER FUEL CUT) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      ENGINE AND ECT (ECM)

      OK

      OFF is displayed after the ignition switch is turned ON.

  4. CHECK SECURITY INDICATOR LIGHT OPERATION 
    1. Check that the security indicator light turns off when a registered door control transmitter assembly is inserted into the ignition key cylinder.

      OK

      Security indicator light turns off.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      NG A
      OK B

    B → See step   15 

    A: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK SECURITY INDICATOR LIGHT OPERATION 
    1. Check that the security indicator light turns off when another registered door control transmitter assembly is inserted into the ignition key cylinder.

      OK

      Security indicator light turns off.

    NG → See step   7 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK WHETHER ENGINE STARTS 
    1. Using another registered door control transmitter assembly, turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Check that the engine starts 5 seconds after the ignition switch was turned to ON.

      OK

      Engine starts normally.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Engine cannot be started A
      Engine can be started B

    B → See step   11 

    A → See step   15 

  7. REPLACE TRANSPONDER KEY COIL 
    1. Replace the transponder key coil. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK WHETHER ENGINE STARTS 
    1. Using another registered door control transmitter assembly, turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Check that the engine starts 5 seconds after the ignition switch was turned to ON.

      OK

      Engine starts normally.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Engine can be started A
      Engine cannot be started B

    B → See step   9 

    A → END (TRANSPONDER KEY COIL WAS DEFECTIVE) 

  9. REPLACE TRANSPONDER KEY ECU ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the transponder key ECU assembly with a new one. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] .
      NOTE:

      Key ID code registration is necessary when replacing the transponder key ECU assembly, refer to Registration. Refer to REGISTRATION [08/2015 - ] .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  10. CHECK WHETHER ENGINE STARTS 
    1. Using another registered door control transmitter assembly, turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Check that the engine starts 5 seconds after the ignition switch was turned to ON.

      OK

      Engine starts normally.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Engine can be started A
      Engine cannot be started B

    B → See step   11 

    A → END (TRANSPONDER KEY ECU ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE) 

  11. REPLACE DOOR CONTROL TRANSMITTER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the door control transmitter assembly.
      NOTE:

      Key ID code registration is necessary when replacing the door control transmitter assembly, refer to Registration. Refer to REGISTRATION [08/2015 - ] .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  12. CHECK WHETHER ENGINE STARTS 
    1. Using another registered door control transmitter assembly, turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Check that the engine starts 5 seconds after the ignition switch was turned to ON.

      OK

      Engine starts normally.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Engine can be started A
      Engine cannot be started B

    B → See step   14 

    A → END (DOOR CONTROL TRANSMITTER ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE) 

  13. GO TO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [08/2015 - ] 
  14. GO TO SFI SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [08/2015 - ] 
  15. GO TO OTHER DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE (Engine does not Start but Initial Combustion Occurs). Refer to  Engine does not Start but Initial Combustion Occurs [08/2015 - ]
