Climate Control Seat System does not Operate [10/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK CLIMATE CONTROL SEAT OPERATION 
    1. Check the climate control seat operation (Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [10/2014 - ] ).

      Result

      Climate control seat does not operate (for LH) A
      Climate control seat does not operate (for RH) B
      Both climate control seats do not operate C

  2. CHECK CLIMATE CONTROL SEAT OPERATION 
    1. Check the climate control seat operation again (Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [10/2014 - ] ).

      Only seat climate control blower LH does not operate B
      Both climate control blowers do not operate C

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SEAT CLIMATE CONTROL BLOWER LH - SEATBACK CLIMATE CONTROL BLOWER LH) 
    1. Disconnect the S16 seatback climate control blower LH connector.
    2. Disconnect the S11 seat climate control blower LH connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S16-1 - S11-6 Always Below 1 Ω
      S16-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      S16-2 - S11-5 Always Below 1 Ω
      S16-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      S16-3 - S11-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      S16-3 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. REPLACE SEATBACK CLIMATE CONTROL BLOWER LH 
    1. Replace the seatback climate control blower LH (Refer to DISASSEMBLY [10/2014 - 06/2017] or DISASSEMBLY [06/2017 - ] ).

  5. CHECK CLIMATE CONTROL SEAT OPERATION 
    1. Check the climate control seat operation (Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [10/2014 - ] ).

      OK

      The climate control seat operates normally.

    END (SEATBACK CLIMATE CONTROL BLOWER LH WAS DEFECTIVE)

    REPLACE SEAT CLIMATE CONTROL BLOWER LH

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - SEAT CLIMATE CONTROL BLOWER LH - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the S11 seat climate control blower LH connector.
    2. Measure the voltage and resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S11-2 - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S11-3 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SEAT CLIMATE CONTROL BLOWER LH - AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the D63 air conditioning amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S11-4 - D63-11 (SVDB) Always Below 1 Ω
      S11-4 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result:

  8. CHECK AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Reconnect the D63 air conditioning amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Reconnect the S11 seat climate control blower LH connector.

    3. Check the input signal waveform.
      1. Connect an oscilloscope to terminal 5 and body ground with the seat climate control blower LH connector still connected.
      2. Check the signal waveform according to the condition(s) in the table below.
        Terminal No. S11-4 - Body ground
        Tool Setting 2 V/DIV., 500 μsec./DIV.
        Vehicle Condition Engine switch on (IG), refreshing seat switch (for LH) on
        (blower position)
        TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

        (Seat Climate Control Blower LH)

        OK

        Waveform is similar to that shown in the illustration.

    Result:

  9. INSPECT REFRESHING SEAT SWITCH 
    1. Remove the refreshing seat switch (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] ).

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3 - 6 Refreshing seat switch (for LH) on (Vol: max)

      Standard Resistance

      D39-3 (RVL) - D63-18 (SVDS) Always Below 1 Ω
      D39-3 (RVL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    1. Disconnect the R17 seatback climate control blower RH connector.
    2. Disconnect the R13 seat climate control blower RH connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R17-1 - R13-6 Always Below 1 Ω
      R17-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R17-2 - R13-5 Always Below 1 Ω
      R17-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R17-3 - R13-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      R17-3 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result:

    1. Disconnect the R13 seat climate control blower RH connector.
    2. Measure the voltage and resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R13-2 - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V

      R13-3 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      R13-4 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  17. CHECK AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Reconnect the D63 air conditioning amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Reconnect the R13 seat climate control blower RH connector.

    3. Check the input signal waveform.
      1. Connect an oscilloscope to terminal 5 and body ground with the seat climate control blower RH connector still connected.
      2. Check the signal waveform according to the condition(s) in the table below.
        Terminal No. R13-4 - Body ground
        Tool Setting 2 V/DIV., 500 μsec./DIV.
        Vehicle Condition Engine switch on (IG), refreshing seat switch (for RH) on
        (blower position)

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
