Check Bus 3 Line for Short to +B [10/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR SHORT TO +B IN CAN BUS LINE (NO. 7 CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
    2. Disconnect the D132 No. 7 CAN junction connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  2. CHECK FOR SHORT TO +B IN CAN BUS LINE (NO. 7 CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR - CENTRAL GATEWAY ECU) 
    1. Reconnect the D132 No. 7 CAN junction connector.
    2. Disconnect the D127 central gateway ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (to Central Gateway ECU)

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D127-6 (CA3H) - D127-1 (BATT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or higher
      D127-21 (CA3L) - D127-1 (BATT)

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE CENTRAL GATEWAY ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2015 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN MAIN BUS LINE OR CONNECTOR (NO. 7 CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR - CENTRAL GATEWAY ECU) 

  3. CHECK FOR SHORT TO +B IN CAN BUS LINE (NO. 7 CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR - CENTRAL GATEWAY ECU) 
    1. Reconnect the D132 No. 7 CAN junction connector.
    2. Disconnect the D127 central gateway ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (to Central Gateway ECU)

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D127-19 (CAYH) - D127-1 (BATT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or higher
      D127-20 (CAYL) - D127-1 (BATT)

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE CENTRAL GATEWAY ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2015 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN MAIN BUS LINE OR CONNECTOR (NO. 7 CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR - CENTRAL GATEWAY ECU) 

  4. CHECK FOR SHORT TO +B IN CAN BUS LINE (ECU, SENSOR) 
    1. Reconnect the D132 No. 7 CAN junction connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECU or sensor connected to the CAN bus line that is shorted to +B.

      HINT: 

      If the ECU or sensor has multiple connectors, disconnect the connector that includes the CAN bus lines. To determine the ECU or sensor that is connected to the shorted bus line:

      Refer to TERMINALS OF ECU [10/2015 - ]

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Central Gateway ECU)

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D127-6 (CA3H) - D127-1 (BATT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 6 kΩ or higher
      D127-21 (CA3L) - D127-1 (BATT)

      HINT: 

      If the resistance changes to 6 kΩ or higher when the connector is disconnected from the ECU or sensor, there may be a short in the ECU or sensor.

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE CORRESPONDING ECU OR SENSOR 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CORRESPONDING ECU OR SENSOR BUS LINE OR CONNECTOR
