- CHECK FOR SHORT TO +B IN CAN BUS LINE (ECM - NO. 2 CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR)
- Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
- Disconnect the D81 wire harness connector.

- Reconnect the D81 wire harness connector.
- Connect a tester probe to terminal 1 (CANH) or terminal 2 (CANL) of the No. 2 CAN junction connector and connect the other tester probe to terminal 16 (BATT) of the DLC3.

(No. 2 CAN Junction Connector) - While observing the resistance value shown on the tester, disconnect connectors (D79, D82, D83 and D85) from the No. 2 CAN junction connector or (D74, D76, D77, D80 and D129) from the No. 1 CAN junction connector one by one until the resistance becomes normal (6 kΩ or higher).

- Before disconnecting the connector, make a note of where it is connected.

HINT:
- Connectors that connect to the CAN junction connector can be distinguished by the color of their CAN bus lines.
- Reconnecting the connectors to non-original positions on the CAN junction connector does not affect system performance. However, it is preferred to reconnect the connectors to their original positions to avoid negative effects on the wiring such as tension on the wire harnesses, and to make future maintenance easier.
- When there is a short to +B in one or more of the bus lines that connect to an ECU or sensor:
- Reconnect all of the connectors to the CAN junction connector, except for the one that was disconnected last (the bus line that is shorted to +B). Check that the resistance shown on the tester is normal (6 kΩ or higher) to confirm that there is a short to +B in the one bus line only.
Proceed to The resistance is still 6 kΩ or higher when all the specified connectors are disconnected from the CAN junction connector. (There is a short to +B in the No. 2 CAN junction connector or No. 1 CAN junction connector) A The resistance becomes normal (6 kΩ or higher) when a connector is disconnected from the CAN junction connector. - Reconnect the connector for the short-circuited branch line to the CAN junction connector (the connector that caused the bus line resistance to become normal (6 kΩ or higher) when it was disconnected).
