On-Vehicle Inspection [08/2019 - ]: Procedure
- INSPECT TRANSFER POSITION SWITCH
- Check the harness and connector (four wheel drive control ECU - battery and body ground).
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage
Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition F46-4 (IG) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION*a Component with harness connected
(Four Wheel Drive Control ECU)If the result is not as specified, inspect the harness, fuse or connector. If the harness or connector is malfunctioning, repair or replace the harness or connector. If the harness or connector is normal, replace the four wheel drive control ECU (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2019 - ] ).
If there is a malfunction, repair or replace the harness or connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition F46-10 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
- Check the harness and connector (transfer position switch - four wheel drive control ECU).
- Disconnect the F47 four wheel drive control ECU connector.
- Disconnect the F91 transfer position switch connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition F91-5 (LO) - F47-13 (LO) Always Below 1 Ω F91-5 (LO) - Body ground Always 100 kΩ or higher F91-3 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω F91-1 (2-4) - F47-14 (2-4) Always Below 1 Ω F91-1 (2-4) - Body ground Always 100 kΩ or higher If the result is not as specified, repair or replace the harness or connector.
- Check the transfer position switch.
- Turn the ignition switch off.
- Connect the F91 transfer position switch connector.
- Connect the F47 four wheel drive control ECU connector.
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

- Check the four wheel drive control ECU.
- Disconnect the F91 transfer position switch connector.
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

(to Transfer Position Switch) - Connect the F91 transfer position switch connector.
If the voltage is not as specified, replace the four wheel drive control ECU (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2019 - ] ). If the voltage is normal, replace the transfer position switch (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2019 - ] ).
- Check the harness and connector (four wheel drive control ECU - battery and body ground).
