Speed Signal Circuit [07/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY (INPUT VOLTAGE) 
    1. Disconnect the D100 combination meter assembly connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      D100-6 (+S) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 4.5 to 14 V
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Combination Meter Assembly)

      HINT: 

      If any of the ECUs specified in the wiring diagram supplies power to the combination meter assembly, the combination meter assembly will output a waveform.

    3. Reconnect the combination meter assembly connector.

    NG → See step   5 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY (OUTPUT VOLTAGE) See step   2 

    NG → See step   4 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY (INPUT WAVEFORM) See step   3 

    NG → See step   10 

    OK → See step   13 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY - BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) See step   4 

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   11 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the 3B instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the D100 combination meter assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D100-6 (+S) - 3B-15 Always Below 1 Ω
      D100-6 (+S) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the 3B instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
    5. Reconnect the D100 combination meter assembly connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. INSPECT ECM 
    1. Disconnect the 3C instrument panel junction block assembly connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      3C-39 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 4.5 to 14 V

      (to Instrument Panel Junction Block Assembly)
    3. Reconnect the 3C instrument panel junction block assembly connector.

    NG → See step   8 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. INSPECT POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the 3A instrument panel junction block assembly connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      3A-37 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 4.5 to 14 V
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Instrument Panel Junction Block Assembly)
    3. Reconnect the 3A instrument panel junction block assembly connector.

    NG → See step   9 

    OK → See step   14 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the 3C instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the A72 ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3C-39 - A72-44 (SPD) Always Below 1 Ω
      3C-39 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the 3C instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
    5. Reconnect the A72 ECM connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   12 

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY - RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the 3A instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the D134 radio receiver assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3A-37 - D134-17 (SPD) Always Below 1 Ω
      3A-37 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the 3A instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
    5. Reconnect the D134 radio receiver assembly connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → REPLACE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY 

  10. REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2014 - ] 
  11. REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2014 - ] 
  12. REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2014 - ] 
  13. REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2014 - ] 
  14. REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2014 - ]
