Hazard Warning Switch Circuit [07/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (HAZARD FLASHER SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List.
    5. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.
      COMBINATION METER

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Hazard Flasher Switch Hazard warning signal switch /
      OFF or ON
      OFF: Hazard warning signal switch off
      ON: Hazard warning signal switch on
      -

      OK

      Normal conditions listed above are displayed.

    NG → See step   2 

    OK → See step   7 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY - BATTERY)

    1. Disconnect the D101 combination meter assembly connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D101-1 (B) - Body Ground Always 11 to 14 V
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Combination Meter Assembly)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TELLTALE LIGHT ASSEMBLY (HAZARD WARNING SIGNAL SWITCH) - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the D115 telltale light assembly (hazard warning signal switch) connector.
    2. Disconnect the D101 combination meter assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D115-4 (TB) - D101-3 (HAZ) Always Below 1 Ω
      D115-5 (E) - Body Ground Always Below 1 Ω
      D115-4 (TB) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. REPLACE TELLTALE LIGHT ASSEMBLY (HAZARD WARNING SIGNAL SWITCH) 
    1. Replace the telltale light assembly (hazard warning signal switch). Refer to REMOVAL [07/2014 - ] .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  5. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (HAZARD FLASHER SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List.
    5. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.
      COMBINATION METER

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Hazard Flasher Switch Hazard warning signal switch /
      OFF or ON
      OFF: Hazard warning signal switch off
      ON: Hazard warning signal switch on
      -

      OK

      Normal conditions listed above are displayed.

    NG → See step   6 

    OK → END (TELLTALE LIGHT ASSEMBLY (HAZARD WARNING SIGNAL SWITCH) WAS DEFECTIVE) 

  6. REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2014 - ] 
  7. PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [07/2014 - ]
