DTC B2430, B2431: LED Headlight LH Circuit Malfunction; LED Headlight RH Circuit Malfunction [12/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK/CLEAR [12/2014 - ] .
    2. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK/CLEAR [12/2014 - ] .

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Both DTC B2430 and B2431 are not output. A
      Both DTC B2430 and B2431 are output. B
      DTC B2430 or B2431 is output. C

  2. INSPECT H-LP RELAY 
    1. Remove the H-LP relay from the No. 2 engine room relay block and No. 2 junction block assembly.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3 - 5 Voltage not applied between terminals 1 and 2 10 kΩ or higher
      3 - 5 Voltage applied between terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 Ω
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component without harness connected
      (H-LP Relay)

    NG → REPLACE H-LP RELAY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AUXILIARY BATTERY - H-LP RELAY) 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connector Condition Specified Condition
      Relay terminal 1 - Body ground Ignition switch off 11 to 14 V
      Relay terminal 5 - Body ground Ignition switch off 11 to 14 V

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (H-LP RELAY - HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY LH AND HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY RH) 
    1. Disconnect the A67 headlight assembly LH connector.
    2. Disconnect the A66 headlight assembly RH connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Relay terminal 3 - A67-4 (LO) Always Below 1 Ω
      Relay terminal 3 - A66-4 (LO) Always Below 1 Ω
      Relay terminal 3 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (H-LP RELAY - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the 3C instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Relay terminal 2 - 3C-18 Always Below 1 Ω
      Relay terminal 2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the instrument panel junction block assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [12/2014 - ] .
    2. Remove the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) from the instrument panel junction block assembly.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3C-18 - MB-15 (HRLY) Always Below 1 Ω
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Instrument Panel Junction Block Assembly)

    NG → See step   13 

    OK → See step   12 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY - H-LP RELAY) 
    1. Disconnect the A67 headlight assembly connector or the A66 headlight assembly connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      LH SIDE (B2430)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A67-4 (LO) - Body ground Ignition switch off, light control switch in head position 11 to 14 V
      RH SIDE (B2431)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A66-4 (LO) - Body ground Ignition switch off, light control switch in head position 11 to 14 V

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      LH SIDE (B2430)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A67-2 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      RH SIDE (B2431)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A66-2 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY (INPUT VOLTAGE) 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      LH SIDE (B2430)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A67-1 (S) - Body ground Ignition switch ON (IG), light control switch in head position 11 to 14 V
      RH SIDE (B2431)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A66-1 (S) - Body ground Ignition switch ON (IG), light control switch in head position 11 to 14 V

    NG → See step   11 

    OK: Go to next step 

  10. CHECK HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the headlight assembly with a new or known good one. Refer to DISASSEMBLY [12/2014 - ] .
    2. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK/CLEAR [12/2014 - ] .

      OK

      DTC B2430 and B2431 are not output.

    NG → See step   12 

    OK → END (HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE) 

  11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAIN BODY ECU - HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the G88 main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.
    2. Disconnect the A67 headlight assembly connector or the A66 headlight assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      LH SIDE (B2430)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G88-24 (LLEW) - A67-1 (S) Always Below 1 Ω
      G88-24 (LLEW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      RH SIDE (B2431)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G88-21 (RLEW) - A66-1 (S) Always Below 1 Ω
      G88-21 (RLEW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   12 

  12. REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU). Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2014 - ] 
  13. REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2014 - ] 
  14. USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [12/2014 - ]
