Hazard Warning Switch Circuit [12/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List.
    5. Read the display on the Techstream.
      COMBINATION METER

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Hazard Flasher Switch Hazard switch signal/ON or OFF ON: Hazard switch on
      OFF: Hazard switch off
      -

      OK

      Normal conditions listed above are displayed.

    NG → See step   2 

    OK → See step   5 

  2. INSPECT HAZARD WARNING SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the hazard warning signal switch assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [12/2014 - ] .
    2. Inspect the hazard warning signal switch assembly. Refer to INSPECTION [12/2014 - ] .

    NG → See step   6 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HAZARD WARNING SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the G3 combination meter assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G2-4 (TB) - G3-3 (HAZ) Always Below 1 Ω
      G2-4 (TB) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G2-1 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   4 

  4. REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2014 - ] 
  5. PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [12/2014 - ] 
  6. REPLACE HAZARD WARNING SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2014 - ]
