DTC P3147-239: Transmission system; DTC P3147-241: Transmission system [12/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (ENGINE AND ECT) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      SFI system DTCs are not output. A
      SFI system DTCs are output. B
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

    B → See step   9 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs other than P3147-239 or P3147-241 are not output. A
      P3147-240 or P3147-242 is also output. B
      P0A1D is also output. C
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

    B → See step   10 

    C → See step   11 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK CRANKSHAFT PULLEY REVOLUTION (SHIFT LEVER IN P) 
    1. With the shift lever in P and lift up the vehicle.
    2. Turn the crankshaft pulley using hand tools to check if the crankshaft can rotate smoothly.
      WARNING:

      Do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY) while performing this inspection. Be sure to turn the ignition switch off before performing this inspection, to prevent the engine from starting.

      NOTE:

      Engine compression causes resistance when turning the crankshaft pulley. Check if the crankshaft rotates smoothly (or if it is locked) by manually applying sufficient torque to turn the crankshaft pulley. The torque required to turn the crankshaft pulley should be the same as for a known good vehicle of the same type.

      Result

      The crankshaft rotates. A
      The crankshaft does not rotate. B
    3. Lower the vehicle.

    B → See step   8 

    A: Go to next step 

  4. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Read and record the DTCs and freeze frame data.
    5. Clear DTCs and freeze frame data.
    6. Turn the ignition switch off.

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK ENGINE RACING. Refer to  PROCEDURE - Step 4 

    NG → See step   10 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK CREEP MOVEMENT 
    1. Depress the brake pedal, move the shift lever to D, and release the brake pedal.

      OK

      The wheels turn (the vehicle creeps forward).

      HINT: 

      If the wheels do not turn and the reading on the Techstream shows DTC P3147-239, replace the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly.

    NG → See step   10 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK ENGINE SPEED. Refer to  PROCEDURE - Step 6 

    NG → See step   13 

    OK → See step   12 

  8. CHECK CRANKSHAFT PULLEY REVOLUTION (N POSITION) 
    1. Lift up the vehicle.
    2. Move the shift lever to N.
    3. Turn the crankshaft pulley using hand tools to check if the crankshaft can rotate smoothly.
      WARNING:

      Do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY) while performing this inspection. Be sure to turn the ignition switch off before performing this inspection, to prevent the engine from starting.

      NOTE:

      Engine compression causes resistance when turning the crankshaft pulley. Check if the crankshaft rotates smoothly (or if it is locked) by manually applying sufficient torque to turn the crankshaft pulley.       OK

      The crankshaft rotates.

    4. Lower the vehicle.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE ENGINE 

    OK → See step   10 

  9. GO TO DTC CHART (SFI SYSTEM). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [12/2014 - ] 
  10. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [12/2014 - ] 
  11. GO TO DTC CHART (HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [12/2014 - ] 
  12. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  COMPONENTS [12/2014 - ] 
  13. REPLACE TRANSMISSION INPUT DAMPER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [12/2014 - ]
