DTC P3107-213: Lost Communication with Ignition Switch Run Position Circuit [12/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (SRS AIRBAG) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / SRS Airbag / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Airbag system DTCs are not output. A
      Airbag system DTCs are output. B
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

    B → See step   10 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (CHECK WAVEFORM) 
    1. Connect an oscilloscope between the airbag sensor assembly terminals specified in the table below.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (READY).
    3. Measure the waveform.

      Item Contents
      Terminal G18-14 (GSW2) - G18-25 (E1)
      Equipment Setting 5V/DIV., 500ms/DIV.
      Condition Ignition switch ON (READY)

      Result

      The waveform differs from the one shown in the illustration. B
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Airbag Sensor Assembly)
    4. Turn the ignition switch off.

    B → See step   6 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. CLEAR DTC. Refer to  PROCEDURE - Step 4 

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      P3107-213 is not output. A
      P3107-213 is output. B
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

    B → See step   9 

    A: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 

    Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [12/2014 - ]

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

    OK → See step   9 

  6. CHECK AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect connector G18 from the airbag sensor assembly.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      G18-14 (GSW2) - G18-25 (E1) Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Airbag Sensor Assembly)
    3. Connect the airbag sensor assembly connector.

    NG → See step   8 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU- AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect connector G58 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
    2. Disconnect connector G18 from the airbag sensor assembly.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      G58-14 (ABFS) or G18-14 (GSW2) - Body ground and other terminals Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Rear view of wire harness connector
      (to Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU)
      *b Rear view of wire harness connector
      (to Airbag Sensor Assembly)
    4. Connect the airbag sensor assembly connector.
    5. Connect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   9 

  8. REPLACE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [12/2014 - ] 
  9. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  COMPONENTS [12/2014 - ] 
  10. GO TO DTC CHART (AIRBAG SYSTEM). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [12/2014 - 05/2015]
