DTC P3000-388: Battery Control System [12/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      P3000-388 or P3000-389 only is output. A
      DTCs other than P3000-388, P3000-389, and P0AF8 are also output. B
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

    B → See step   5 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (ENGINE AND ECT) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      NO DTCs are output. A
      DTCs are output. B
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

    B → See step   7 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK AMOUNT OF FUEL 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (IG).
    2. Check the amount of fuel by referring to the fuel gauge in the meter.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Proper amount of fuel is in the tank. A
      There is no fuel in the tank. B

      HINT: 

      Add fuel until the low fuel level warning light turns off.

    3. Turn the ignition switch off.

    B → REFUEL VEHICLE 

    A: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK ENGINE START 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (READY).
    2. Check if the engine starts.

      HINT: 

      • Depressing the accelerator pedal with the shift lever in P will cause the engine to start.
      • Turning the ignition switch to ON (READY) and off repeatedly while the SOC is low may cause the SOC to drop further, resulting in DTC P3000-389 being set. Charge the HV battery using the THS charger as necessary.
      • Cranking the engine once causes the SOC to drop approximately 1%.
      • Charging the HV battery once (10 minutes) using the THS charger restores the SOC approximately 2%.

      Result

      The engine starts. A
      The engine does not start. B
    3. If the engine does not start, turn the ignition switch off.

    A → LEAVE VEHICLE WITH SHIFT LEVER IN P, AND CHARGE HV BATTERY BY IDLING UNTIL IDLING STOPS 

  5. GO TO DTC CHART (HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [12/2014 - ] 
  6. CHARGE HV BATTERY (CHECK THAT ENGINE STARTS). Refer to  CHARGING [12/2014 - ] 
  7. GO TO DTC CHART (SFI SYSTEM). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [12/2014 - ]
