DTC P0010: Camshaft Position "A" Actuator Circuit (Bank 1); DTC P0020: Camshaft Position "A" Actuator Circuit (Bank 2) [02/2014 - 11/2016]: Procedure

  1. READ OUTPUT DTC (DTC P0010 OR P0020) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Clear the DTC after recording the freeze frame data and DTC.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [02/2014 - 11/2016]

      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Clear DTCs 

    5. Turn the power switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
    6. Turn the power switch on (IG) and wait 5 seconds.
    7. Turn the Techstream on.
    8. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
    9. Read the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC P0010 or P0020 is output A
      DTCs are not output B

    Result:  2

    B 

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [02/2014 - 11/2016] 

    Result:  1

    A

  2. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Inspect the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [02/2014 - 11/2016]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPLACE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [02/2014 - 11/2016] 

    Result:  1

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C37-1 - C1-10 (OC1+) Always Below 1 Ω
      C37-2 - C1-11 (OC1-) Always Below 1 Ω
      C38-1 - C1-8 (OC2+) Always Below 1 Ω
      C38-2 - C1-9 (OC2-) Always Below 1 Ω
      C37-1 or C1-10 (OC1+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C37-2 or C1-11 (OC1-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C38-1 or C1-8 (OC2+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C38-2 or C1-9 (OC2-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  1

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL [02/2014 - 11/2016] 

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
