DTC P0617: Starter Relay Circuit High [12/2013 - 11/2016]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (STARTER SIGNAL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Primary / Starter Signal.

      Powertrain > Engine > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Starter Signal
    5. Check the value displayed on the Techstream when the vehicle is driven at 20 km/h (12.43 mph) or more.
      WARNING:

      When performing the confirmation driving pattern, obey all speed limits and traffic laws.

      Result

      Condition Starter Signal Result
      Driving at 20 km/h (12.43 mph) or more OFF A
      ON B

    Result: 

    Refer to  CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [12/2013 - ] 

    Result:

  2. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to INSPECTION [12/2013 - ]

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2013 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (STA SIGNAL CIRCUIT) 
    1. Repair or replace harness or connector (park/neutral position switch assembly - ECM - ST relay).

  4. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P0617) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Clear the DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2013 - 11/2016]

      Powertrain > Engine > Clear DTCs 

    5. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
    6. Drive the vehicle in accordance with the driving pattern described in Confirmation Driving Pattern.
    7. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
    8. Read the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC P0617 is output A
      DTCs are not output B

    Result: 

    REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2013 - ]
