DTC P0715: Input / Turbine Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction; DTC P0717: Input Speed Sensor Circuit No Signal [09/2014 - ]: Procedure
- INSPECT TRANSMISSION REVOLUTION SENSOR (SPEED SENSOR INSTALLATION)
- Remove the valve body assembly.
- Make sure that the connector is properly connected, and check the speed sensor installation. Refer to INSTALLATION [09/2014 - ]
.
OK
The installation bolt is tightened properly and there is no clearance between the sensor and transaxle case.
NG → See step 8
OK: Go to next step
- INSPECT TRANSMISSION WIRE
- Disconnect the speed sensor connector from the transmission wire.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 1 (NTB) sensor side - A-1 (NTB) wiring harness connector side Always Below 1 Ω 2 (NTO) sensor side - A-2 (NTO) wiring harness connector side Always Below 1 Ω 1 (NTB) sensor side - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher 2 (NTO) sensor side - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION*a Component without harness connected

NG → See step 9
OK: Go to next step
- Disconnect the speed sensor connector from the transmission wire.
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR)
- Disconnect the ECM connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition E8-1 (NTB) - E26-116 (NTB) Always Below 1 Ω E8-2 (NTO) - E26-115 (NTO) Always Below 1 Ω E8-1 (NTB) or E26-116 (NTB) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher E8-2 (NTO) or E26-115 (NTO) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to next step
- INSPECT WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR
- Remove the wiring harness connector.

A: Go to next step
- REPLACE TRANSMISSION REVOLUTION SENSOR
Refer to COMPONENTS [09/2014 - ]
NEXT: Go to next step
- CHECK IF DTC OUTPUT RECURS (SEE IF DTC P0715 AND/OR P0717 OUTPUT AGAIN)
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Start the engine and turn the Techstream on.
- Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [09/2014 - ]
.
HINT:
Write down the currently output DTCs before clearing them.
- Perform the monitor drive pattern. Refer to MONITOR DRIVE PATTERN [09/2014 - ] .
- Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
- Read the DTCs using the Techstream.
Result
Display (DTC Output) Proceed to Only "P0715 or P0717" is output A No output B
B → END
