Ambient Light Circuit [10/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Active Test.
    5. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.
      MAIN BODY

      Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
      Ceiling Light Ambient lights ON/OFF -

      OK

      Ambient lights come on.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      OK A
      NG (All ambient lights do not illuminate) B
      NG (Ambient light does not illuminate (for Center Console Side)) C
      NG (Ambient light does not illuminate (for Front Door))
      NG (Ambient light does not illuminate (for Rear Door))
      NG (Ambient light does not illuminate (for Instrument Panel Side))

    Result: 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

    (Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [10/2014 - ] )

    Result: 

    GO TO PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE FOR EACH PROBLEM SYMPTOM

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Active Test.
      MAIN BODY

      Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
      Ceiling Light Ambient lights ON/OFF -
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D5-4 (OSPT) - Body ground Active Test above is being performed 11 to 14 V

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU) 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] )

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AMBIENT LIGHTS - MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU) AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the D15 console box illumination light assembly (for front side) connector.
    2. Disconnect the D16 console box illumination light assembly (for rear side) connector.
    3. Disconnect the F11 No. 1 interior illumination light assembly (for front RH) connector.
    4. Disconnect the G13 No. 1 interior illumination light assembly (for front LH) connector.
    5. Disconnect the H6 No. 1 interior illumination light assembly (for rear RH) connector.
    6. Disconnect the I6 No. 1 interior illumination light assembly (for rear LH) connector.
    7. Disconnect the D119 No. 1 interior illumination light assembly LH (for driver side) connector.
    8. Disconnect the D120 No. 1 interior illumination light assembly RH (for front passenger side) connector.
    9. Disconnect the D5 main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.
    10. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      FOR CENTER CONSOLE SIDE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D15-2 (B) - D5-4 (OSPT) Always Below 1 Ω
      D15-2 (B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D15-1 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      D16-2 (B) - D5-4 (OSPT) Always Below 1 Ω
      D16-2 (B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D16-1 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      FOR FRONT DOOR

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F11-2 (+) - D5-4 (OSPT) Always Below 1 Ω
      F11-2 (+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      F11-1 (-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      G13-2 (+) - D5-4 (OSPT) Always Below 1 Ω
      G13-2 (+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G13-1 (-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      FOR REAR DOOR

      H6-2 (+) - D5-4 (OSPT) Always Below 1 Ω
      H6-2 (+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H6-1 (-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      I6-2 (+) - D5-4 (OSPT) Always Below 1 Ω
      I6-2 (+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I6-1 (-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      FOR INSTRUMENT PANEL SIDE

      D119-2 (+) - D5-4 (OSPT) Always Below 1 Ω
      D119-2 (+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D119-1 (-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      D120-2 (B) - D5-4 (OSPT) Always Below 1 Ω
      D120-2 (B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D120-1 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

  4. INSPECT CONSOLE BOX ILLUMINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY (for Center Console Side) 
    1. Remove the console box illumination light assembly (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] ).
    2. Inspect the console box illumination light assembly (Refer to INSPECTION [10/2014 - ] ).

      OK

      Console box illumination light assembly is normal.

    Result: 

    OK 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

    (Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [10/2014 - ] )

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE CONSOLE BOX ILLUMINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY (for Center Console Side) 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] )

  5. INSPECT NO. 1 INTERIOR ILLUMINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY (for Front Door) 
    1. Remove the No. 1 interior illumination light assembly (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] ).
    2. Inspect the No. 1 interior illumination light assembly (Refer to INSPECTION [10/2014 - ] ).

      OK

      No. 1 interior illumination light assembly is normal.

    Result: 

    OK 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

    (Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [10/2014 - ] )

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE NO. 1 INTERIOR ILLUMINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY (for Front Door) 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] )

  6. INSPECT NO. 1 INTERIOR ILLUMINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY (for Rear Door) 
    1. Remove the No. 1 interior illumination light assembly (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] ).
    2. Inspect the No. 1 interior illumination light assembly (Refer to INSPECTION [10/2014 - ] ).

      OK

      No. 1 interior illumination light assembly is normal.

    Result: 

    OK 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

    (Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [10/2014 - ] )

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE NO. 1 INTERIOR ILLUMINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY (for Rear Door) 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] )

  7. INSPECT NO. 1 INTERIOR ILLUMINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY (for Instrument Panel Side) 
    1. Remove the No. 1 interior illumination light assembly (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] ).
    2. Inspect the No. 1 interior illumination light assembly (Refer to INSPECTION [10/2014 - ] ).

      OK

      No. 1 interior illumination light assembly is normal.

    Result: 

    OK 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

    (Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [10/2014 - ] )

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE NO. 1 INTERIOR ILLUMINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY (for Instrument Panel Side) 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] )
