Check Bus 3 Lines for Short Circuit [10/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR SHORT IN CAN BUS LINES (NO. 7 CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
    2. Disconnect the D132 No. 7 CAN junction connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to No. 7 CAN Junction Connector)
      *b to Central Gateway ECU (CA3H and CA3L Terminal)
      *c to Central Gateway ECU (CAYH and CAYL Terminal)
      *d to Radio and Display Receiver Assembly
      (for Radio and Display Type)
      *e to Navigation ECU Sub-assembly
      (for Navigation Receiver Type)

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Connected to
      D132-9 (CANH) - D132-20 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 108 to 132 Ω Central gateway ECU (CA3H and CA3L terminal)
      D132-10 (CANH) - D132-21 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 108 to 132 Ω Central gateway ECU (CAYH and CAYL terminal)
      D132-11 (CANH) - D132-22 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 200 Ω or higher Radio and display receiver assembly*1
      D132-11 (CANH) - D132-22 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 200 Ω or higher Navigation ECU sub-assembly*2
      • *1: for Radio and Display Type
      • *2: for Navigation Receiver Type

    Result: 

    REPLACE NO. 7 CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR

  2. CHECK FOR SHORT IN CAN BUS LINES (CENTRAL GATEWAY ECU) 
    1. Remove the central gateway ECU.

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2015 - ]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D127-6 (CA3H) - D127-21 (CA3L) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 108 to 132 Ω

      (Central Gateway ECU)

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN MAIN BUS LINES OR CONNECTOR (NO. 7 CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR - CENTRAL GATEWAY ECU) 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE CENTRAL GATEWAY ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2015 - ] 

  3. CHECK FOR SHORT IN CAN BUS LINES (CENTRAL GATEWAY ECU) 
    1. Remove the central gateway ECU.

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2015 - ]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D127-19 (CAYH) - D127-20 (CAYL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 108 to 132 Ω

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Central Gateway ECU)

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN MAIN BUS LINES OR CONNECTOR (NO. 7 CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR - CENTRAL GATEWAY ECU) 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE CENTRAL GATEWAY ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2015 - ] 

  4. CHECK FOR SHORT IN CAN BUS LINES (ECU, SENSOR) 
    1. Reconnect the D132 No. 7 CAN junction connector.
    2. Disconnect the connector that includes terminals CANH and CANL from the ECU or sensor to which the short circuited branch line is connected.

      Refer to TERMINALS OF ECU [10/2015 - ]

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Central Gateway ECU)

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D127-6 (CA3H) - D127-21 (CA3L) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 54 to 69 Ω

      HINT: 

      If the resistance becomes normal (between 54 and 69 Ω) when the connector is disconnected from the ECU or sensor, there may be a short in the ECU or sensor.

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE CORRESPONDING ECU OR SENSOR 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CORRESPONDING ECU OR SENSOR BRANCH LINES OR CONNECTOR
