DTC B1635/24: Rear Airbag Sensor LH Circuit Malfunction [10/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK CONNECTORS 
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the side airbag sensor assembly LH, side No. 2 airbag sensor assembly LH and door side airbag sensor LH. Also check that the connectors that link the floor wire and front door wire LH are properly connected.

      OK

      The connectors are properly connected.

      HINT: 

      If the connectors are not properly connected, reconnect the connectors and proceed to the next inspection.

    4. Disconnect the connectors from the side airbag sensor assembly LH, side No. 2 airbag sensor assembly LH and door side airbag sensor LH. Also disconnect the connectors that link the floor wire and front door wire LH.
    5. Check that the terminals of the connectors are not damaged.

      OK

      The terminals are not deformed or damaged.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE WIRE HARNESS 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (OPEN) 
    1. Using a service wire, connect terminals 4 (BCL+) and 3 (BCL-) of connector C.

      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J6-1 (BCL+) - J6-2 (BCL-) Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Disconnect the service wire from connector C.

  3. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (SHORT) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J6-1 (BCL+) - J6-2 (BCL-) Always 1 MΩ or higher

  4. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (SHORT TO B+) 
    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J6-1 (BCL+) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      J6-2 (BCL-) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
    4. Turn the power switch off.
    5. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

  5. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (SHORT TO GROUND) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  6. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (OPEN) 
    1. Connect the connectors that link the floor wire and front door wire LH.

    2. Using a service wire, connect terminals 2 (BDL+) and 1 (BDL-) of connector E.
      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J10-1 (BDL+) - J10-2 (BDL-) Always Below 1 Ω

  8. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SHORT TO B+) 
    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J10-1 (BDL+) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      J10-2 (BDL-) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
    4. Turn the power switch off.
    5. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

  9. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SHORT TO GROUND)

  10. CHECK SIDE NO. 2 AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Connect the connectors to the side airbag sensor assembly LH and door side airbag sensor LH.

    2. Interchange the side No. 2 airbag sensor assembly LH with RH and connect the connectors.
    3. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    4. Clear the DTCs stored in memory (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2014 - ] ).
    5. Turn the power switch off.
    6. Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    7. Check for DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2014 - ] ).

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1635/24 is output. A
      DTC B1630/23 is output. B
      DTCs B1630/23 and B1635/24 are not output. C

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTCs B1630/23 and B1635/24 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    8. Turn the power switch off.
    9. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    10. Return the side No. 2 airbag sensor assembly LH and RH to their original positions and connect the connectors.

    Result:

    REPLACE SIDE NO. 2 AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY LH

  11. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Interchange the side airbag sensor assembly LH with RH and connect the connectors.

    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    3. Clear the DTCs stored in memory (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2014 - ] ).
    4. Turn the power switch off.
    5. Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    6. Check for DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2014 - ] ).

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1635/24 is output. A
      DTC B1630/23 is output. B
      DTCs B1630/23 and B1635/24 are not output. C

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTCs B1630/23 and B1635/24 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    7. Turn the power switch off.
    8. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    9. Return the side airbag sensor assembly LH and RH to their original positions and connect the connectors.

  12. CHECK DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR LH 
    1. Disconnect the connector from the door side airbag sensor LH.

    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    3. Clear the DTCs stored in memory (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2014 - ] ).
    4. Turn the power switch off.
    5. Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    6. Check for DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2014 - ] ).

      OK

      DTC B1635/24 is not output.

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTC B1635/24 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

  13. CHECK FRONT DOOR WIRE LH (OPEN) 
    1. Disconnect the front door wire LH connector from the floor wire.

      HINT: 

      The service wire has already been inserted into connector E.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      GJ1-1 (BDL+) - GJ1-2 (BDL-) Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Disconnect the service wire from connector E.
