DTC P0A2C-247: Drive Motor "A" Temperature Sensor Circuit Low; DTC P0A2D-249: Drive Motor "A" Temperature Sensor Circuit High [10/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR) 
    1. Check the connection condition of the Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connectors and the contact pressure of each terminal. Check the terminals for deformation, and check the connector for water ingress and foreign matter.

      Refer to ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE [10/2014 - ]

      OK

      - The connector is connected securely.

      - The terminals are not deformed and are connected securely.

      - No water or foreign matter in the connector.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      OK A
      NG (The connector is not connected securely.) B
      NG (The terminals are not making secure contact or are deformed, or water or foreign matter exists in the connector.) C

    CONNECT SECURELY

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  2. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (MOTOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR CONNECTOR) 
    1. Check the connection condition of the B47 motor temperature sensor connector and the contact pressure of each terminal. Check the terminals for deformation, and check the connector for water ingress and foreign matter.

      Refer to ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE [10/2014 - ]

      OK

      - The connector is connected securely.

      - The terminals are not deformed and are connected securely.

      - No water or foreign matter in the connector.

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (MOTOR TEMP NO1) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Motor Temp No1.
    4. Read the Data List.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      -40°C (-40°F) A
      215°C (419°F) B
      Same as actual temperature C
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    Result:

  4. INSPECT HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY (MOTOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR) 
    1. Disconnect the B47 motor temperature sensor connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B47-1 (MMT) - B47-3 (MMTG) Power switch off 0.3436 to 1442 kΩ

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Motor Temperature Sensor (Hybrid Vehicle Transaxle Assembly))
    3. Reconnect the B47 motor temperature sensor connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY 

    When Not Using the Engine Support Bridge: Refer to COMPONENTS [10/2014 - ]

    When Using the Engine Support Bridge: Refer to COMPONENTS [10/2015 - ]

    OK

  5. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect terminals 24 (MMT) and 23 (MMTG) of the A67 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.

      *a Component with harness connected
      (to Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU Assembly)
    2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Motor Temp No1.
    5. Read the Data List.

      OK

      Tester Display Condition Specified Condition
      Motor Temp No1 Terminals A67-24 (MMT) and A67-23 (MMTG) connected
      Power switch on (IG)
      215°C (419°F)

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG
    6. Turn the power switch off.

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [10/2015 - ] 

  6. INSPECT HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY (MOTOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR) 
    1. Disconnect the B47 motor temperature sensor connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    3. Reconnect the B47 motor temperature sensor connector.

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MOTOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR - HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the B47 motor temperature sensor connector.
    2. Disconnect the A67 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B47-1 (MMT) - A67-24 (MMT) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      B47-3 (MMTG) - A67-23 (MMTG) Power switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B47-1 (MMT) or A67-24 (MMT) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      B47-3 (MMTG) or A67-23 (MMTG) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

    4. Reconnect the A67 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.
    5. Reconnect the B47 motor temperature sensor connector.

      Result
