DTC P3107-214: Lost Communication with Airbag System Control Module [10/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (SRS AIRBAG) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / SRS Airbag / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check for DTCs.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Airbag system DTCs are not output. A
      Airbag system DTCs are output. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    GO TO DTC CHART (AIRBAG SYSTEM) 

    (Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [10/2014 - ] )

  2. CHECK AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY (CHECK WAVEFORM)

  3. CLEAR DTC

    NEXT

  4. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check for DTCs.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      P3107-214 is not output. A
      P3107-214 is output again. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to COMPONENTS [10/2015 - ] )

  5. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 

    (Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [10/2014 - ] )

    OK 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to COMPONENTS [10/2015 - ] )

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

  6. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR)

    NG 

    CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK

  7. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR) 
    1. Check the connector connections and contact pressure of the relevant terminals for the airbag ECU assembly connectors.

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Airbag ECU Assembly)

      OK

      The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact pressure problems.

    NG 

    CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY - AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the D136 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the D36 airbag ECU assembly connector.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the table below.

      *a Rear view of wire harness connector
      (to Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU Assembly)
      *b Rear view of wire harness connector
      (to Airbag ECU Assembly)

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D136-14 (ABFS) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the airbag ECU assembly connector and the hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    5. Turn the power switch off.
    6. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D136-14 (ABFS) - D36-24 (GSW2) Power switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D136-14 (ABFS) or D36-24 (GSW2) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

      HINT: 

      As necessary, check that there are no wires shorted to power supply when performing the above wire harness inspection.

    7. Reconnect the D36 airbag ECU assembly connector.
    8. Reconnect the D136 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector..

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK

  9. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the D36 airbag ECU assembly connector.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Airbag ECU Assembly)
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the table below.

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU Assembly)

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D136-14 (ABFS) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the airbag ECU assembly connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    4. Turn the power switch off.
    5. Reconnect the D36 airbag ECU assembly connector.

    OK 

    REPLACE AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to COMPONENTS [10/2014 - ] )

    NG 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to COMPONENTS [10/2015 - ] )
