Transmission Control Switch Circuit [10/2014 - 10/2015]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SPORTS MODE) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Sports Mode.
    4. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.

      Result

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition
      Sports Mode Sports shift signal
      ON or OFF
      Shift lever in S: ON
      Shift lever not in S: OFF
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    Result: 

    NG

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SPORT UP SHIFT SENS STATE, SPORT DWN SHIFT SENS STATE) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Sport Up Shift Sens State, Sport Dwn Shift Sens State.
    4. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.

      Result

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition
      Sport Up Shift Sens State Sports shift UP signal /
      ON or OFF
      Shift lever in S and held toward +:
      ON
      Sport Dwn Shift Sens State Sport shift DOWN signal /
      ON or OFF

    5. Turn the power switch off.

    Result: 

    NG

  3. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 
    1. Check for intermittent problems.
      1. Move the shift lever to S and jiggle the harness and connector.
      2. With the shift lever held toward "+" and then "-", jiggle the harness and connector.

    Result: 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE

    REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

  4. INSPECT LOWER SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the D31 lower shift lever assembly (transmission control switch) connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Lower Shift Lever Assembly (Transmission Control Switch))

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3 (SFTU)- 2 (E) Shift lever in positive (+) Below 1 Ω
      3 (SFTU)- 2 (E) Shift lever in S 10 kΩ or higher
      1 (SFTD) - 2 (E)
      1 (SFTD) - 2 (E) Shift lever in negative (-) Below 1 Ω
    3. Reconnect the D31 lower shift lever assembly (transmission control switch) connector.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE LOWER SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH) 

    (Refer to COMPONENTS [10/2014 - ] )

    Result: 

    OK

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LOWER SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH) - POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the D105 power management control ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Rear view of wire harness connector
      (to Power Management Control ECU)

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D105-27 (SFTU) - Body ground Shift lever in positive (+) Below 1 Ω
      D105-27 (SFTU) - Body ground
      D105-26 (SFTD) - Body ground
      Shift lever in S 10 kΩ or higher
      D105-26 (SFTD) - Body ground Shift lever in negative (-) Below 1 Ω
    3. Reconnect the D105 power management control ECU connector.

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU 

    (Refer to COMPONENTS [10/2014 - 10/2015] )

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the D31 lower shift lever assembly (transmission control switch) connector.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (to Lower Shift Lever Assembly (Transmission Control Switch))

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D31-4 (IG) - D31-2 (E) Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
    4. Turn the power switch off.
    5. Reconnect the D31 lower shift lever assembly (transmission control switch) connector.

    Result: 

    NG 

    CHECK POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT 

    Result: 

    OK

  7. INSPECT LOWER SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the D31 lower shift lever assembly (transmission control switch) connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (Lower Shift Lever Assembly (Transmission Control Switch))

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      4 (IG) - 5 (S) Shift lever not in S 10 kΩ or higher
      Shift lever in S Below 1 Ω
    3. Reconnect the D31 lower shift lever assembly (transmission control switch) connector.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE LOWER SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH)

    OK

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LOWER SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH) - POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Remove the PM IGCT fuse from the No. 2 engine room relay block.

      *1 No. 2 Engine Room Relay Block
      *2 PM IGCT Fuse
    2. Remove the AM2 fuse and ECU-IG2 NO. 3 fuse from the engine room relay block and junction block assembly.

      *2 AM2 Fuse
      *3 ECU-IG2 NO. 3 Fuse
    3. Disconnect the A53, A54, D104 and D105 power management control ECU connectors.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      D105-23 (M) - A53-2 (+B2) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      D105-23 (M) - A54-5 (+B1) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      D105-23 (M) - D104-1 (AM22) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      D105-23 (M) - D105-7 (AM21) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      D105-23 (M) - A54-6 (MREL) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      D105-23 (M) - A54-1 (IG2) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      D105-23 (M) - D105-1 (ACCD) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      D105-23 (M) - D105-2 (IG1D) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      D105-23 (M) - A54-2 (IG2D) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

    5. Disconnect the D31 lower shift lever assembly (transmission control switch) connector.
    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (to Lower Shift Lever Assembly (Transmission Control Switch))

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D105-23 (M) - D31-5 (S) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
    7. Reconnect the D31 lower shift lever assembly (transmission control switch) connector.
    8. Reconnect the A53, A54, D104 and D105 power management control ECU connectors.
    9. Install the AM2 fuse and ECU-IG2 NO. 3 fuse to the engine room relay block and junction block assembly.
    10. Install the PM IGCT fuse to the No. 2 engine room relay block.

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU 

    (Refer to COMPONENTS [10/2014 - 10/2015] )

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
