Pattern Select Switch Sport Mode Circuit [10/2014 - 10/2015]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (CAN BUS CHECK)

    GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 

    (Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [10/2014 - 10/2015] )

  2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HEALTH CHECK)

    GO TO APPLICABLE DTC CHART 

    Result: 

    A

  3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (INDICAT. SPORT (CVT SPORT)) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (READY).
    3. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test / Indicat. Sport (CVT Sport).
    4. Perform the "Indicat. Sport (CVT Sport)" Active Test.

      OK

      The SPORT indicator light comes on or blinks.

    5. Turn the power switch off.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to COMPONENTS [10/2014 - 10/2015] )

    Result: 

    OK

  4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (PATTERN SWITCH (PWR/M)) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Pattern Switch (PWR/M).
    4. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.
      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition
      Pattern Switch (PWR/M) SPORT mode transition availability/
      ON or OFF      		 In SPORT mode: ON

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      The Techstream display changes according to the SPORT mode switch (combination switch assembly) operation. A
      The Techstream display does not change according to the SPORT mode switch (combination switch assembly) operation. B

    Result:

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS

  5. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SPORT MODE SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Sports Mode Switch.
    4. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.
      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition
      Sports Mode Switch SPORT mode switch (combination switch assembly) condition /
      ON or OFF      		 SPORT mode switch (combination switch assembly) being pushed and held: ON
      SPORT mode switch (combination switch assembly) not pushed: OFF

      Result

  6. CHECK SPORT MODE SWITCH (COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Remove the SPORT mode switch (combination switch assembly) (Refer to COMPONENTS [10/2014 - ] ).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (SPORT Mode Switch (Combination Switch Assembly))

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 (PWR) - 3 (E) SPORT mode switch (combination switch assembly) being pushed and held Below 1 Ω
      SPORT mode switch (combination switch assembly) not pushed 10 kΩ or higher
    3. Install the SPORT mode switch (combination switch assembly).

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE SPORT MODE SWITCH (COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 

    (Refer to COMPONENTS [10/2014 - ] )

    Result: 

    OK

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPORT MODE SWITCH (COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY) - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the D107 SPORT mode switch (combination switch assembly) connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to EV Drive Mode Switch (Combination Switch Assembly))

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D107-3 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Reconnect the D107 SPORT mode switch (combination switch assembly) connector.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - SPORT MODE SWITCH (COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Disconnect the A18 ECM connector.
    2. Disconnect the D107 SPORT mode switch (combination switch assembly) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (to SPORT Mode Switch (Combination Switch Assembly))

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A18-9 (PWMS) - D107-1 (PWR) Always Below 1 Ω
      A18-9 (PWMS) or D107-1 (PWR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the D107 SPORT mode switch (combination switch assembly) connector.
    5. Reconnect the A18 ECM connector.

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM 

    (Refer to COMPONENTS [10/2014 - ] )

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
