DTC B1473/73: A/C Inverter Start-up Signal System Malfunction [10/2014 - 10/2015]: Procedure

  1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Using the Techstream, check if the CAN communication system is functioning normally.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      CAN DTCs are not output A
      CAN DTCs are output B

    Result: 

    GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 

    (Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [10/2014 - 10/2015] )

    Result: 

    See step  2

  2. CHECK DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE 
    1. Check if DTCs for the air conditioning system and the hybrid control system are output using the Techstream.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Only DTC B1473/73 is output A
      DTCs B1473/73 and P3108 are output simultaneously (B1498/98 is not output)
      DTCs B1473/73 and B1498/98 are output simultaneously (P3108 is not output) B
      DTCs B1473/73, B1498/98 and P3108 are output simultaneously
      DTCs other than P3108 are output for hybrid control system C

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC B1498/98 

    (Refer to DTC B1498/98: Communication Malfunction (A/C Inverter Local) [10/2014 - 10/2015] )

    Result: 

    GO TO HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM 

    (Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [10/2014 - ] )

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU - COMPRESSOR WITH MOTOR) 
    WARNING:

    Do not disconnect the connector on the high-voltage side.

    1. Disconnect the A53 power management control ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the B58 compressor with motor assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A53-20 (STB) - B58-4 (STBI) Always Below 1 Ω
      A53-20 (STB) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. INSPECT COMPRESSOR WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Reconnect the B58 compressor with motor assembly connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A53-20 (STB) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      A53-20 (STB) - Body ground Power switch off Below 1 V

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Power Management Control ECU)

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - 10/2015] )

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE COMPRESSOR WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] )
