Remote Engine Starter does not Operate [10/2014 - 10/2015]: Procedure

  1. CHECK REMOTE ENGINE STARTER SYSTEM 
    1. Check the remote hybrid control system starter function (Refer to OPERATION CHECK [10/2014 - ] ).

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Engine does not start using remote hybrid control system starter function A
      Engine does not stop using remote hybrid control system stop function B

  2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM) 
    1. Check if CAN communication DTCs are output (Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [10/2014 - 10/2015] ).

      HINT: 

      If any CAN communication system DTCs are output, inspect those DTCs first.

      OK

      CAN communication system DTCs are not output.

    Result: 

    NG 

    GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 

    (Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [10/2014 - 10/2015] )

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HEALTH CHECK) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: System Select / Health Check.

      HINT: 

      If any DTCs are output, inspect those DTCs first.

      Result

      DTCs are output B

    Result: 

    GO TO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART

  4. CHECK DIAGNOSTIC FACTOR INDICATION 
    1. Enter diagnostic mode (Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [10/2014 - ] ).
    2. Check the hybrid control system stop factor.

      OK

      Hazard warning lights do not flash (No abnormal stop in the past).

    Result: 

    OK 

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK 

    (Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [10/2014 - 10/2015] )

  5. CHECK HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM STOP FACTOR (HAZARD WARNING LIGHT FLASHING PATTERN) 
    1. Check the hybrid control system stop factor.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Hazard warning lights flash 3 times (The power source mode is not on (READY)) A
      Hazard warning lights flash 7 or 8 times (Brake pedal is depressed or vehicle speed is abnormal) B
      Hazard warning lights flash 9 times (Immobiliser collation discrepancy) C
      Except above (Other hybrid control system stop factor) D

    GO TO SMART KEY SYSTEM (FOR STARTING SYSTEM)

  6. CONFIRM OTHER HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM STOP FACTOR 
    1. Confirm the hybrid control system stop factor and the vehicle condition.

      HINT: 

      • Possible other hybrid control system stop factors are listed below.
        • Hazard warning lights are flashed 1 time (Power switch is turned on (ACC or IG))
        • Hazard warning lights are flashed 2 times (Any door is unlocked)
        • Hazard warning lights are flashed 5 times (Any door or engine hood is opened)
        • Hazard warning lights are flashed 6 times (Shift lever is not in P)

      OK

      Vehicle condition differs from the hybrid control system stop factor.

    Result: 

    NG 

    CORRECT VEHICLE CONDITION (OTHER HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM STOP FACTOR) 

    Result: 

    OK

  7. CHECK WIRELESS DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM 
    1. Check the wireless door lock control functions using the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly (Refer to OPERATION CHECK [10/2014 - ] ).

      OK

      Wireless door lock/unlock functions operate normally.

    Result: 

    NG 

    GO TO WIRELESS DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM 

    (Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [10/2014 - 10/2015] )

    Result: 

    OK

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU) - REMOTE ENGINE STARTER ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the D6 main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.
    2. Disconnect the D67 remote engine starter ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified condition
      D6-25 (BTX) - D67-4 (BTX) Always Below 1 Ω
      D6-26 (BRX) - D67-3 (BRX) Always Below 1 Ω
      D6-25 (BTX) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D6-26 (BRX) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D67-4 (BTX) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D67-3 (BRX) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  9. CHECK REMOTE ENGINE STARTER ECU (OUTPUT SIGNAL) 
    1. Reconnect the D67 remote engine starter ECU connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified condition
      D67-3 (BRX) - Body ground Remote hybrid control system starter or remote hybrid control system stop function operating Pulse generation

      (Remote Engine Starter ECU)

    Result:

    REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU) 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - 10/2015] )

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE REMOTE ENGINE STARTER ECU 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] )

  10. CHECK HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM STOP FUNCTION 
    1. Check if the hybrid control system stops when any of the following conditions is met.
      • 10 minutes elapse after the hybrid control system is started.
      • The shift lever is moved from P.
      • Any door is opened.
      • Any door is unlocked.
      • The engine hood is opened.
      • The power switch is pressed.
      • The engine speed is kept more than 3000 rpm for 3 seconds.
      • A vehicle speed signal is input (more than 5 km/h (3 mph)).
      • The brake pedal is depressed.
      • The theft deterrent system is in the alarm sounding state (except panic alarm).
      • 3 seconds elapse after the power source mode is changed from on (READY) to others.

      OK

      The hybrid control system stops.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE REMOTE ENGINE STARTER ECU

    Result: 

    OK

  11. CHECK WIRELESS DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM 
    1. Check the wireless door lock control functions using the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly (Refer to OPERATION CHECK [10/2014 - ] ).

      OK

      Wireless door lock/unlock functions operate normally.

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE REMOTE ENGINE STARTER ECU
