DTC 42: Electronically Controlled Brake System Malfunction; DTC 45: Electronically Controlled Brake System Malfunction [10/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED BRAKE SYSTEM 
    1. Clear the DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2014 - ] ).
    2. Turn the power switch on (READY).
    3. Drive the vehicle at a speed of approximately 40 km/h (25 mph) or more for 60 seconds or more.
    4. Check if electronically controlled brake system DTCs are output (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2014 - ] ).

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Electronically controlled brake system DTCs are not output. A
      Electronically controlled brake system DTCs are output. B

    Result: 

    REPAIR CIRCUITS INDICATED BY OUTPUT DTCS 

    (Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [10/2014 - 10/2015] or DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [10/2015 - ] )

    Result:

  2. RECONFIRM DTC 
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Clear the DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2014 - ] ).
    3. Turn the power switch on (READY).
    4. Drive the vehicle at a speed of approximately 40 km/h (25 mph) or more for 60 seconds or more.
    5. Check if the same DTC is output (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2014 - ] ).

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs 42 and 45 are not output. A
      DTCs 42 and/or 45 are output. B

    Result: 

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK 

    (Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [10/2014 - 10/2015] or HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [10/2015 - ] )

    Result: 

    REPLACE BRAKE BOOSTER WITH MASTER CYLINDER ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] )
