Glass Breakage Sensor Circuit [10/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (GLASS BREAKAGE SENSOR DETECTION) 

    HINT: 

    Performing the following procedure will change the theft deterrent system to "ALARM SOUNDING STATE" (Refer to SYSTEM DESCRIPTION [10/2014 - ] ).

    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Data List.
    5. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.
    6. Turn the power switch on (IG), then off.
    7. Set the theft deterrent system to "ARMED STATE" (Refer to SYSTEM DESCRIPTION [10/2014 - ] ).
    8. Check that the security indicator light changes from illuminated to blinking.
    9. Tap on the glass breakage sensor microphone with your finger.
      MAIN BODY

      The Techstream display changes to ON.

    Result:

    REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU) 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - 10/2015] or REMOVAL [10/2015 - ] )

    Result: 

    NG

  2. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - 10/2015] or REMOVAL [10/2015 - ] ).

      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Instrument Panel Junction Block Assembly)
      - -
    2. Disconnect the 3B instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3B-28 - MB-19 (GBS) Always Below 1 Ω

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - 10/2015] or REMOVAL [10/2015 - ] )

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AUXILIARY BATTERY - GLASS BREAKAGE SENSOR ECU - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the E23 glass breakage sensor ECU connector.
    2. Measure the voltage and resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E23-2 (+B) - Body ground Power switch off 11 to 14 V

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E23-6 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY - GLASS BREAKAGE SENSOR ECU) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E23-5 (GBS SIG) - 3B-28 Always Below 1 Ω
      E23-5 (GBS SIG) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      3B-28 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (GLASS BREAKAGE SENSOR ECU - GLASS BREAKAGE SENSOR MICROPHONE) 
    1. Disconnect the E22 glass breakage sensor microphone connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E23-7 (MIC-) - E22-4 (MIC-) Always Below 1 Ω
      E23-7 (MIC-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E22-4 (MIC-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E23-8 (MIC+) - E22-3 (MIC+) Always Below 1 Ω
      E23-8 (MIC+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E22-3 (MIC+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  6. REPLACE GLASS BREAKAGE SENSOR MICROPHONE 
    1. Replace the glass breakage sensor microphone (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] ).

    Result: 

    NEXT

  7. CHECK GLASS BREAKAGE SENSOR 
    1. Check the operation of the glass breakage sensor (Refer to SYSTEM DESCRIPTION [10/2014 - ] ).

      OK

      When tapping on the glass breakage sensor microphone with your finger, the alarm function operates.

    Result: 

    OK 

    END (GLASS BREAKAGE SENSOR MICROPHONE WAS DEFECTIVE) 

    Result: 

    NG

  8. REPLACE GLASS BREAKAGE SENSOR ECU 
    1. Replace the glass breakage sensor ECU (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] ).

    Result:

  9. CHECK GLASS BREAKAGE SENSOR 
    1. Check the operation of the glass breakage sensor (Refer to SYSTEM DESCRIPTION [10/2014 - ] ).

      OK

      When tapping on the glass breakage sensor microphone with your finger, the alarm function operates.

    Result: 

    OK 

    END (GLASS BREAKAGE SENSOR ECU WAS DEFECTIVE) 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU)
