DTC B2799-790: Engine Immobiliser System Malfunction [10/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2015 - ] ).

    Result:

  2. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Start the hybrid control system.
    2. Wait 10 seconds or more.
    3. Check for DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2015 - ] ).

      HINT: 

      Before checking for DTCs, perform the "DTC Output Confirmation Operation" procedure.

      NG (DTC B2799-790 is output) B
      NG (Other DTCs are output) C

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK

  3. INSPECT HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY (TERMINAL IMO) 
    1. Using an oscilloscope, check the waveform.

      MEASUREMENT CONDITION

      Item Content
      Tester Connection D105-23 (IMO) - Body ground
      Tool Setting 2 V/DIV., 500 ms./DIV.
      Condition Within 3 seconds of hybrid control system start, or within 3 seconds of power switch turned on (IG) after auxiliary battery cable disconnected and reconnected

      OK

      The waveform is similar to that shown in the illustration.

      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      Normal waveform A
      Terminal IMO stuck low (2.4 V or less) B
      Terminal IMO stuck high (12 V) or Abnormal waveform C

  6. CHECK WHETHER HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM STARTS 
    1. Check that the hybrid control system starts with an already registered vehicle key.

      OK

      Hybrid control system starts normally.

  7. INSPECT HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY (IMO TERMINAL VOLTAGE) 
    1. Disconnect the D105 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.

      *a Rear view of wire harness connector
      (to Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU Assembly)
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Terminal IMO stuck low (2.4 V or less) A
      Terminal IMO stuck high (12 V) B

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY - CERTIFICATION ECU AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the D127 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.
    2. Disconnect the D105 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D127-13 (EFIO) - D105-22 (IMI) Always Below 1 Ω
      D127-14 (EFII) - D105-23 (IMO) Always Below 1 Ω
      D127-13 (EFIO) or D105-22 (IMI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D127-14 (EFII) or D105-23 (IMO) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  9. REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Temporarily replace the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] ).

  10. REGISTER ECU COMMUNICATION ID 
    1. Reregister the ECU communication ID (Refer to REGISTRATION [10/2015 - ] ).

  11. CHECK WHETHER HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM STARTS 
    1. Check that the hybrid control system starts with an already registered vehicle key.

  12. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY 
    1. Temporarily replace the hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly with a new or known good one (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2015 - ] ).
