DTC B2799: Engine Immobiliser System Malfunction [10/2014 - 10/2015]: Procedure

  1. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2014 - 10/2015] ).

    Result:

  2. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Start the hybrid control system.
    2. Wait 10 seconds or more.
    3. Check for DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2014 - 10/2015] ).

      HINT: 

      Before checking for DTCs, perform the "DTC Output Confirmation Operation" procedure.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      OK A
      NG (DTC B2799 is output) B
      NG (Other DTCs are output) C

    Result: 

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK

  3. INSPECT POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU (TERMINAL IMO) 
    1. Using an oscilloscope, check the waveform.

      MEASUREMENT CONDITION

      Item Content
      Tester Connection D105-20 (IMO) - Body ground
      Tool Setting 2 V/DIV., 500 ms./DIV.
      Condition Within 3 seconds of hybrid control system start, or within 3 seconds of power switch turned on (IG) after auxiliary battery cable disconnected and reconnected

      OK

      The waveform is similar to that shown in the illustration.

      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      Normal waveform A
      Terminal IMO stuck low (2.4 V or less) B
      Terminal IMO stuck high (12 V) or Abnormal waveform C

  4. INSPECT POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU (TERMINAL IMI)

  5. REGISTER ECU COMMUNICATION ID 
    1. Reregister the ECU communication ID (Refer to REGISTRATION [10/2014 - 10/2015] ).

  6. CHECK WHETHER HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM STARTS 
    1. Check that the hybrid control system starts with an already registered vehicle key.

      OK

      Hybrid control system starts normally.

  7. INSPECT POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU (IMO TERMINAL VOLTAGE) 
    1. Disconnect the D105 power management control ECU connector.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Terminal IMO stuck low (2.4 V or less) A
      Terminal IMO stuck high (12 V) B

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU - CERTIFICATION ECU AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the D110 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.
    2. Disconnect the D105 power management control ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D110-14 (EFIO) - D105-21 (IMI) Always Below 1 Ω
      D110-10 (EFII) - D105-20 (IMO) Always Below 1 Ω
      D110-14 (EFIO) or D105-21 (IMI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D110-10 (EFII) or D105-20 (IMO) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  9. REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Temporarily replace the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] ).

  10. REGISTER ECU COMMUNICATION ID 
    1. Reregister the ECU communication ID (Refer to REGISTRATION [10/2014 - 10/2015] ).

    1. Check that the hybrid control system starts with an already registered vehicle key.

    1. Temporarily replace the power management control ECU with a new or known good one (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - 10/2015] ).
