DTC B1579: Voice Recognition Microphone Disconnected [10/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT NAVIGATION ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E20-19 (MIN-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE NAVIGATION ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] )

  2. CONFIRM MODEL 
    1. Choose the model to be inspected.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) - INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY (AMPLIFIER MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Disconnect the E11 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    2. Disconnect the N2*1 or N12*2 inner rear view mirror assembly (amplifier microphone assembly) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E11-35 (MCI-) - N2-12 (MIC-)*1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E11-35 (MCI-) - N12-10 (MIC-)*2 Always Below 1 Ω
      E11-35 (MCI-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      • *1: w/o Toyota Safety Sense P
      • *2: w/ Toyota Safety Sense P

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NAVIGATION ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY - DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER)) 
    1. Disconnect the E20 navigation ECU sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the E11 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E20-19 (MIN-) - E11-19 (MCO-) Always Below 1 Ω
      E20-19 (MIN-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NAVIGATION ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY - INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY (AMPLIFIER MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Disconnect the E20 navigation ECU sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the N2*1 or N12*2 inner rear view mirror assembly (amplifier microphone assembly) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E20-6 (SNS2) - N2-10 (SGND)*1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E20-6 (SNS2) - N12-8 (SGND)*2 Always Below 1 Ω
      E20-6 (SNS2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      • *1: w/o Toyota Safety Sense P
      • *2: w/ Toyota Safety Sense P

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  6. INSPECT DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      E11-35 (MCI-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    2. Proceed to the next step based on the inspection result.

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NAVIGATION ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY - INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY (AMPLIFIER MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Disconnect the E20 navigation ECU sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the N2*1 or N12*2 inner rear view mirror assembly (amplifier microphone assembly connector).
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E20-6 (SNS2) - N2-10 (SGND)*1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E20-6 (SNS2) - N12-8 (SGND)*2 Always Below 1 Ω
      E20-19 (MIN-) - N2-12 (MIC-)*1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E20-19 (MIN-) - N12-10 (MIC-)*2 Always Below 1 Ω
      E20-6 (SNS2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    1. Remove the inner rear view mirror assembly (amplifier microphone assembly) (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2015 - ] ).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      10 (SGND) - 12 (MIC-)*1 Always Below 1 Ω
      8 (SGND) - 10 (MIC-)*2 Always Below 1 Ω
