Speaker Circuit [10/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. CONFIRM MODEL

  2. CHECK SPEAKER 
    1. Enter the "System Check Mode" screen. Refer to Check Speaker in Operation Check (Refer to OPERATION CHECK [10/2014 - ] ).

    2. Perform the operation check above and determine the speaker that is not operating.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NAVIGATION ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY - FRONT NO. 3 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the I6 navigation ECU sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the I83 and I1 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    3. Disconnect the I60 front No. 3 speaker assembly connector.
    4. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 2 speaker assemblies and the navigation ECU sub-assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I6-1 (FR+) - I83-4 (TWR+) Always Below 1 Ω
      I6-5 (FR-) - I83-2 (TWR-) Always Below 1 Ω
      I6-2 (FL+) - I1-4 (TWL+) Always Below 1 Ω
      I6-6 (FL-) - I1-2 (TWL-) Always Below 1 Ω
    5. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 2 speaker assemblies and the front No. 3 speaker assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      I83-3 (+) - I60-4 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      I83-1 (-) - I60-2 (-) Always Below 1 Ω

    6. Measure the resistance between the navigation ECU sub-assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      I6-5 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    7. Measure the resistance between the front No. 3 speaker assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

  4. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 2 speaker assembly (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] ).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  5. REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check that the malfunction disappears when a new or known good speaker is installed (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] ).

      HINT: 

      • Connect all the connectors to the front No. 2 speaker assemblies that were disconnected.
      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left speaker is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.
      • Perform the above inspection on both the LH and RH side.

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NAVIGATION ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY - DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) - FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY - FRONT NO. 3 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the I6 navigation ECU sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the I83 and I1 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    3. Disconnect the I60 front No. 3 speaker assembly connector.
    4. Disconnect the I135 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    5. Measure the resistance between the navigation ECU sub-assembly and the DCM (telematics transceiver) to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I6-1 (FR+) - I135-2 (SPI+) Always Below 1 Ω
      I6-5 (FR-) - I135-3 (SPI-) Always Below 1 Ω
    6. Measure the resistance between the front No. 2 speaker assembly RH and the DCM (telematics transceiver) to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      I83-4 (TWR+) - I135-5 (SPO+) Always Below 1 Ω
      I83-2 (TWR-) - I135-6 (SPO-) Always Below 1 Ω
    7. Measure the resistance between the front No. 2 speaker assembly LH and the navigation ECU sub-assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      I6-2 (FL+) - I1-4 (TWL+) Always Below 1 Ω
      I6-6 (FL-) - I1-2 (TWL-) Always Below 1 Ω
    8. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 2 speaker assemblies and the front No. 3 speaker assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      I83-1 (-) - I60-2 (-) Always Below 1 Ω

    9. Measure the resistance between the navigation ECU sub-assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      I6-5 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    10. Measure the resistance between the front No. 3 speaker assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

    11. Measure the resistance between the DCM (telematics transceiver) and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

    3. Measure the resistance between each of the rear No. 2 speaker assemblies and the navigation ECU sub-assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      I7-1 (RR+) - O19-4 Always Below 1 Ω
      I7-3 (RR-) - O19-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      I7-2 (RL+) - O20-4 Always Below 1 Ω

    4. Measure the resistance between the navigation ECU sub-assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

    2. Disconnect the I84 and I2 front No. 1 speaker assembly connectors.
    3. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 1 speaker assemblies and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      E7-1 (R+) - I84-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E7-5 (R-) - I84-2 Always Below 1 Ω

    4. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

    3. Measure the resistance between each of the rear speaker assemblies and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      E8-4 (WFR+) - K13-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E8-11 (WFR-) - K13-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      E8-5 (WFL+) - K16-1 Always Below 1 Ω

    4. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.
