Microphone Circuit between Microphone and Navigation Receiver Assembly [10/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK MICROPHONE (OPERATION CHECK) 
    1. Enter the "Microphone Check" screen.

      Refer to Check Microphone in Operation Check (Refer to OPERATION CHECK [10/2014 - ] ).

    2. When a voice is input into the microphone, check that the microphone input level meter changes according to the input voice.

      OK

      Check result is normal.

    Result: 

    OK 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

    (Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [10/2015 - ] )

    Result: 

    NG

  2. CONFIRM MODEL 
    1. Choose the model to be inspected.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NAVIGATION ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY (AMPLIFIER MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Disconnect the E20 navigation ECU sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the N2*1 or N12*2 inner rear view mirror assembly (amplifier microphone assembly) connector.
      • *1: w/o Toyota Safety Sense P
      • *2: w/ Toyota Safety Sense P
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E20-4 (MACC) - N2-9 (ACC)*1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E20-4 (MACC) - N12-7 (ACC)*2 Always Below 1 Ω
      E20-5 (MIN+) - N2-11 (MIC+)*1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E20-5 (MIN+) - N12-3 (MIC+)*2 Always Below 1 Ω
      E20-19 (MIN-) - N2-12 (MIC-)*1 Always Below 1 Ω

    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      E20-4 (MACC) - Body ground Engine switch on (ACC) 4 to 6 V
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      E20-18 (SGND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      E20-19 (MIN-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Proceed to the next step based on the inspection result.

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NAVIGATION ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY (AMPLIFIER MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Disconnect the E20 navigation ECU sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the N2*1 or N12*2 inner rear view mirror assembly (amplifier microphone assembly) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E20-6 (SNS2) - N2-10 (SGND)*1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E20-6 (SNS2) - N12-8 (SGND)*2 Always Below 1 Ω
      E20-6 (SNS2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NAVIGATION ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY - DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER)) 
    1. Disconnect the E20 navigation ECU sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the E11 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E20-5 (MIN+) - E11-18 (MCO+) Always Below 1 Ω
      E20-19 (MIN-) - E11-19 (MCO-) Always Below 1 Ω
      E20-5 (MIN+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E20-19 (MIN-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E20-18 (SGND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result:

    1. Disconnect the E11 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    2. Disconnect the N2*1 or N12*2 inner rear view mirror assembly (amplifier microphone assembly) connector.
      • *1: w/o Toyota Safety Sense P
      • *2: w/ Toyota Safety Sense P
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      E11-33 (MCVD) - N2-9 (ACC)*1 Always Below 1 Ω

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E20-18 (SGND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      E20-19 (MIN-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

  10. INSPECT INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY (AMPLIFIER MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Remove the inner rear view mirror assembly (amplifier microphone assembly) (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2015 - ] ).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      10 (SGND) - 12 (MIC-) Always Below 1 Ω

  11. INSPECT INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY (AMPLIFIER MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Turn the power switch on (ACC).
    2. Connect an oscilloscope to terminals 11 (MIC+) and 12 (MIC-) of the N2 inner rear view mirror assembly (amplifier microphone assembly) connector. (w/o Toyota Safety Sense P)

    3. Connect an oscilloscope to terminals 9 (MIC+) and 10 (MIC-) of the N12 inner rear view mirror assembly (amplifier microphone assembly) connector. (w/ Toyota Safety Sense P)

    4. Check the waveform of the inner rear view mirror assembly (amplifier microphone assembly) using the oscilloscope.
