DTC B15C3: Speaker Output Short [10/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK MODEL 
    1. Choose the model to be inspected.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the E1 and E2 radio and display receiver assembly connectors.
    2. Disconnect the E11 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    3. Disconnect the G6 front No. 1 speaker assembly LH connector.
    4. Disconnect the D1 front No. 2 speaker assembly LH connector.
    5. Disconnect the K13 and K16 rear speaker assembly connectors.
    6. Disconnect the H3 and I3 rear No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    7. Measure the resistance between the radio and display receiver assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E1-1 (FR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E1-5 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E1-2 (FL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E1-6 (FL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E2-1 (RR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E2-3 (RR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E2-2 (RL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E2-6 (RL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result:

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the E11 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    2. Disconnect the F6 front No. 1 speaker assembly RH connector.
    3. Disconnect the D47 front No. 2 speaker assembly RH connector.
    4. Measure the resistance between the DCM (telematics transceiver) and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E11-5 (SPO+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E11-6 (SPO-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  4. INSPECT DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) 
    1. Remove the DCM (telematics transceiver) (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] ).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2 (SPI+) - 5 (SPO+) Always Below 1 Ω
      3 (SPI-) - 6 (SPO-) Always Below 1 Ω
      2 (SPI+) - 3 (SPI-) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      5 (SPO+) - 6 (SPO-) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      2 (SPI+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      3 (SPI-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    3. Proceed to the next step based on the inspection result.

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the E1 and E2 radio and display receiver assembly connectors.
    2. Disconnect the F6 and G6 front No. 1 speaker assembly connectors.
    3. Disconnect the D47 and D1 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    4. Disconnect the K13 and K16 rear speaker assembly connectors.
    5. Disconnect the H3 and I3 rear No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    6. Measure the resistance between the radio and display receiver assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E1-1 (FR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E1-5 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E1-2 (FL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E1-6 (FL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E2-1 (RR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E2-3 (RR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E2-2 (RL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E2-6 (RL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  6. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 1 speaker assembly (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] ).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      1 - 2 Always 3.2 to 4.8 Ω

  7. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 2 speaker assembly (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] ).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2 (TWR-) - 4 (TWR+) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      2 (TWL-) - 4 (TWL+) Always 10 kΩ or higher

    REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY

  8. REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the front No. 2 speaker assembly with a new or known good one (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] ).
    2. Clear the DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2014 - ] ).
    3. Recheck for DTCs and check that no DTCs are output.

      OK

      No DTCs are output.

      HINT: 

      • Connect all the connectors to the front No. 2 speaker assemblies that were disconnected.
      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left front No. 2 speaker assembly is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.
      • Perform the above inspection on both the LH and RH side.

    Result: 

    OK

  9. INSPECT REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the rear speaker assembly (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] ).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Always 3.2 to 4.8 Ω

    REPLACE REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY

  10. INSPECT REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the rear No. 2 speaker assembly (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] ).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2 - 4 Always 10 kΩ or higher

    REPLACE REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] )

  11. REPLACE REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the rear No. 2 speaker assembly with a new or known good one (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] ).
    2. Clear the DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2014 - ] ).
    3. Recheck for DTCs and check that no DTCs are output.

      OK

      No DTCs are output.

      HINT: 

      • Connect all the connectors to the rear No. 2 speaker assemblies that were disconnected.
      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left rear No. 2 speaker assembly is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.
      • Perform the above inspection on both the LH and RH side.

    Result: 

    OK
