Open in CAN Main Bus Line [10/2014 - 10/2015]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR OPEN IN CAN BUS LINES (DLC3 BRANCH LINE) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D28-6 (CANH) - D28-14 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 108 to 132 Ω
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 DLC3
      NOTE:

      When the measured value is 133 Ω or higher and a CAN communication system DTC is output, there may be a fault besides disconnection of the DLC3 branch line. For that reason, troubleshooting should be performed again from How to Proceed with Troubleshooting after repairing the trouble area (Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [10/2014 - 10/2015] ).

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN BRANCH LINE CONNECTED TO DLC3 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK FOR OPEN IN CAN BUS LINES (ECM - NO. 2 CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR) 
    1. Disconnect the A18 ECM connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A18-13 (CANH) -A18-26 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 108 to 132 Ω
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to ECM)

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] )

    Result: 

    NG

  3. CHECK FOR OPEN IN CAN BUS LINES (COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY - NO. 1 CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR) 
    1. Reconnect the A18 ECM connector.
    2. Disconnect the D9 combination meter assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D9-16 (CANH) - D9-15 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 108 to 132 Ω
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Combination Meter Assembly)

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - ] )

    Result: 

    NG

  4. CHECK FOR OPEN IN CAN BUS LINES (NO. 1 CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR) 
    1. Reconnect the D9 combination meter assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the D72 No. 1 CAN junction connector.

    3. Disconnect the D73 No. 1 CAN junction connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Connected to
      D72-1 (CANH) - D72-2 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 108 to 132 Ω No. 2 CAN junction connector
      D73-1 (CANH) - D73-2 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 108 to 132 Ω Combination meter assembly

      • Before disconnecting the connectors, make a note of where they are connected.
      • Reconnect each connector to its original position.

  5. CHECK FOR OPEN IN CAN BUS LINES (NO. 2 CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR) 
    1. Reconnect the D72 No. 1 CAN junction connector.
    2. Reconnect the D73 No. 1 CAN junction connector.
    3. Disconnect the D78 No. 2 CAN junction connector.

    4. Disconnect the D81 No. 2 CAN junction connector.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Connected to
      D78-1 (CANH) - D78-2 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 108 to 132 Ω No. 1 CAN junction connector
      D81-1 (CANH) - D81-2 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 108 to 132 Ω ECM
